Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 3100 officially announced

Qualcomm has officially announced a new chipset designed for smartwatches – the Snapdragon Wear 3100.

The Snapdragon Wear 3100 is a new platform based on a new ultra-low power hierarchical system architecture with ARM Cortex A7 quad-core processors, Adreno 304 GPU, integrated DSP, Snapdragon X5 LTE modem, Bluetooth, WiFi, and a new ultra-low power co-processor, the Qualcomm QCC1110, for a better smartwatch experience with longer battery life.

The new chipset is supported by Google’s Wear OS, as well as watch manufacturers that announced to launch products based on the Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform – Fossil Group, Louis Vuitton (Tambour Horizon), and Montblanc (Summit 2).

The Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform comes in three variants targeting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi tethered smartwatches, GPS-based tethered smartwatches, and 4G LTE connected smartwatches. The platform is in mass production and shipping today.
