Giveaway: UrbanEars Plattan headphone

The folks from Digits Trading sent us another headphone to review and eventually give out to our readers here. Read more about the UrbanEars Plattan Indigo after the break and check how can score one.

The UrbanEars Plattan actually comes in a variety of colors (over a dozen to choose from actually) but the one we got here is the Plattan Indigo (a shade of blue). It comes in this small box with origami-like packaging. The box contains the headphone, some manuals and warranty card, an extra 3.5mm audio jack and a nice heart-shaped sticker.

The headphone itself is has a simple design with wire-frame construction. The entire body from the headband to the soft foams are painted in soft-matte indigo-blue color. It’s got that classic look, lightweight and unassuming.

The headband is covered with soft, cushioned fibre and the 120cm cord is also protected by some tough fibre.

The Plattan comes with an in-line remote control and mic so you can also use it with your phone to make and receive calls. The mic is also positioned near the headphone to make calling more “hands-free”.

One of the ear cups also offers an additional 3.5mm plug that allows you to share whatever you are listening to a friend (not sure if it’s possible to daisy-chain a series of Plattan headphones in this manner).

The Plattan feels comfortable on the ears, has a snug fit and the cord is long enough to give you a lot of wiggle room. Sound quality is good but not that great. Audio is fairly even across the spectrum and the bass isn’t that strong.

Making voice calls when hooked to a phone is easy and call quality is clear and crisp (although I had problems with the in-line mic not working at first).

The UrbanEars Plattan retails for Php2,950 and is available in a number of stores like Digital Hub and Digital Walker.

  1. Favorite singer? Hmm… A lot, but currently, I’d have to go for Landon Pigg.

  2. My favorite singer is Jason Mraz! He sings from the heart. :)

  3. I’m not an expert on headphones but I feel it’s worth its price. Hope I’ll win though and try it on. :)

  4. My favorite singer is Brandon Boyd from the band Incubus.
