Curfews and Internet Clampdown

I know this is kinda paranoid already but several people have contacted me about erratic to no internet connection. Yes, there’s that 12 midnight to 5am police curfew imposed on the entire Mega Manila, but the internet? There’s also the detention processing of media people who were present during the siege at the Manila Peninsula Hotel. I’d like to believe that this knee-jerk reaction is nothing to be worried about. Anybody else having problems with their net connection? Couldn’t it be just net traffic congestion?

  1. probably net traffic congestion only. i didn’t noticed any slowdown with my internet connection the whole day.

  2. btw, my area is las pinas and my internet subscription is pldt mydsl

  3. Making a roll call of my ISPs

    1. Smart Bro- acting up which is rare
    2. Globelines- smooth. Usual.
    3. PLDT- the usual intermittent. same old crappy connection. nothing new.

the winner today is Globelines Broadband. Yay

  4. Just clogged. Mobile networks are hours delayed.

Although my connection is stable right now.. the best connection I have from Globe Innove since I subscribed.

Oh, to the rest of the public.. please don’t believe the news that there’s a martial law (mostly coming from radio stations). It’s causing panick… :/

  5. PLDT MyDSL here in Las Pinas is even faster than what I usually experience. :)

  6. Ok, I just experienced the 4 disconnections.. hehe… 1:19am, during curfew.

  7. Probably congestion. Can’t go out? Go online. Government annoying? Bitch about it on the internet. Twitter has been a great communication too. Real-time updates that are even faster than the news websites.

  8. my friend who uses smartbro and i (globelines), we’re both having problems with internet connection. hmm.

  9. Okay, PLDT DSL slowing down. Getting freaked out now…

  10. My connection is just fine. Its probably because I’m in Cebu.

  11. No problems, but MLQ3 keeps moderating my comments on how small-minded and cowardly Filipinos are. I’d rather get killed than be humiliated like Trillanes was today, the coward that he is. I think ambition makes a Filipino a coward. it’s their desire to be artistas rather than heroes that makes them mice and not men.

  12. And who the fuck took over the Coffee Bean at ortigas yesterday?

  13. SmartBro no connection til 4am today. Las Pinas Area. Da** no PBB Live Stream!

  14. Experienced connection problems yesterday afternoon, using my Smart 3g phone as modem.. I also thought it’s traffic congestion since things are already heating up at makati during that time.

  15. “No problems, but MLQ3 keeps moderating my comments”

Just to clarify. looks like Manolo has been gone from his blog a while. It hasn’t been updated in over a week.

  16. MY BayanDSL connection slowed down last night, at the height of the media arrest. I guess it’s just traffic. It’s okay now.

  17. My SmartBro slowed down last night…can’t even display google…but it’s ok now..

  18. no internet(9pm – up)mostly smart bro users :d

  19. Internet speed goes down from 400kbps to just 23kbps late in the afternoon. Thats my mydsl PLDT. today okay na sya.

  20. this morning, all ISPs working the usual unpredictable connections.

  21. experienced it too this morning in bacoor cavite
globe broadband disconnects for a 10-15 minutes no activity

  24. pldt dsl is down 8PM nov 29 then back in the morning and then down again 8PM nov 30. im in bacolod, by the way.

  25. james,

    same here!
bumagal din smartbro d2 (caloocan area)

yun lng ang tanging araw na bumagal d2
