Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Fusion "Platform" with SDX50 modem in the works

Listen to article

Softbank’s latest earnings report hint at Qualcomm’s next-gen flagship chip — the Snapdragon 855 Fusion. The new chipset is even revealed to come included with the company’s Snapdragon X50 5G modem.

This is quite a surprise, especially when we are only just seeing units sporting the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset, yet still, a bit expected. The report though, revealed nothing else, except for the platform’s name and the pairing with the SDX50 5G modem. While this is exciting news, do take note that Qualcomm themselves have stated during the X50 announcement that mobile devices with the modem will not be ready until the first half of 2019. So, we still have about a year away until any official details about the SD855 surfaces.

Nah. We won’t get advantage of this upgrade since our 4g network sucks. There is not need for 5G phone as of the moment.
