Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series Gaming Notebook Review

Performance and Benchmarks

Powering the device is an Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU clocked at 2.6GHz, 8GB RAM, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M 4GB GPU. Performance is not an issue when it comes to mundane tasks like browsing, multimedia, and office productivity. The real test is gaming.

Using FRAPS, we measured the framerates of the games we have at our disposal at their maximum graphic settings at Full HD resolution:

* FarCry 4 – Avg: 28.90 – Min: 25 – Max: 31
* MGS V: Ground Zeroes – Avg: 35.90 – Min: 30 – Max: 46
* Dying Light – Avg: 24.65 – Min: 20 – Max: 30
* Fallout 4 – Avg: 28.21 – Min: 19 – Max: 38

From the results above, the Inspiron 15 7000 was able to play the said games at a decent 24 to 35 fps. Not as good as more expensive laptops twice its price but it will suffice for casual gamers. As for benchmarks take a look at the results below:

Temperature-wise, the Inspiron 15 7000 features two cooling fans that blast air out to the left side and back. So far it was effective in keeping our palms cool as most of the heat are dissipated towards the rear by the speakers.

Battery Life

As far as battery life goes, Dell claims that the Inspiron 15 7000’s 74 WHr 6-Cell battery can last up to 7 hours. In our case, it lasted for a little over 5 hours at 50% brightness involving mundane tasks such as web browsing, streaming with Spotify and YouTube, downloading, blogging, and installing new programs. That being said, it’s highly recommended that you always bring its brick of a charger if you’re planning to work away from home.

Conclusion

The Dell Inspiron 15 7000 is a decent gaming device that doesn’t ask much. For Php59,990, you’ll get a very capable CPU and GPU for gaming, plenty of RAM for multitasking, as well as enough hard drive space for your multimedia files. It also has good speakers, backlit keyboard, and a large Full HD display. So if you’re looking for a laptop that you can use for work, entertainment as well as casual gaming, then this laptop is worth considering.

  1. I can’t believe that you still don’t like the battery. It’s a gaming notebook in your description. Running on battery which lasts over 5hrs to do non-gaming activities should already be great.

    • Yep. And you obviously SHOULD NOT use this laptop if you plan to use it for gaming WITHOUT plugging the charger on. I mean come on, this is A LAPTOP, not a desktop.

  2. Where can we get this? This would be an excellent replacement for my aging laptop :) Pwede games at work :)

    • CompLink in SM Megamall, then another shop (whose name I forget now but near Octagon) in VMall Greenhills.

      I finally got during last January the i5 version of the laptop discussed here, the Inspiron 7559. My only complaint is the lid gets, well, smudges despite the (so-called) matte finish. -_-

      Still, I say I got a bang-for-my-buck laptop for its price and specs if/when compared to near-similar ones from Acer or even Asus.

    • another tard who doesn’t know how to flip pages and just stick on P1.. lol

  3. I been browsing your page for a while now because I loved to read reviews and I saw this one so why give it a try to read. I was surfing the net to canvass a budget gaming laptop for around 35k, well im not that rich. So back to the problem, I was having some issue on your web page. It is slow, loading of images takes time and the NEXT PAGE tab. The tab is located at the bottom part of the advertisement which I think is a bad design. Maybe you could solve this issue. Thanks and more power guys :D :D

  4. As for me, I went with the i5 config, as it makes more sense for my gaming needs as the i7. Price is 50k tops. I suggest upon getting one, buy an m2 sata ssd, set it up as your boot drive, and format the 1tb as your backup/media storage. Maybe throw a little 8gb ddr3 stick there if you feel you need to, as they’re quite cheap anyways. I plan to replace the wireless card too, if the drivers still won’t make any improvements in the future.

  5. Hi Good day sir I am searching for this thing because I found that its cheap but still worthy. why is it too overpriced like wth I thought it would cost for some 30-40k plus range but it almost 60k in pesos
