OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G Review

Listen to article

OPPO is back with another entry in their Reno lineup, and this time it’s the OPPO Reno14 series. While there are multiple models in the series, today’s full focus is on the OPPO Reno14 Pro.

If you’re wondering what upgrades you’re getting, how it handles, or if this should be your next daily driver, stick around. We’re going to break everything down in this full review.

Design and Construction

Right off the bat, the OPPO Reno14 Pro feels like it belongs in the premium class. It has this clean and modern aesthetic that isn’t too flashy, but you can definitely tell it’s built with quality materials. The back comes in two finishes: Titanium Gray, which gives off a more industrial and subtle look, and Opal White, which is the flashier of the two with a velvet-like iridescent effect that shifts color depending on the angle.

The whole device feels sturdy, and that’s not surprising considering OPPO used their Crystal Shield Glass, which is a type of Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front. It’s one of their most durable panes yet, and it should handle daily wear and tear much better than your average glass panel.

It’s also got a triple IP rating, IP66, IP68, and IP69 to be exact, which is something you rarely see in a smartphone. That means it’s protected against dust, submersion in water, and even high-pressure water jets. So whether you’re out in the rain, near a pool, or just prone to spills, this phone should be able to handle it all.

Button and port placements are standard with a clean layout. On one side, you have your power and volume controls, while the bottom holds the USB Type-C port, SIM card tray, and one of the two stereo speakers. The top holds the other speaker and microphone. Overall, OPPO nails the build here with its premium, and durable without going overboard with the design.

Display, Multimedia, and Biometrics

The OPPO Reno14 Pro comes with a large 6.83-inch OLED display that gives you plenty of detail and clarity without draining the battery too much. It’s not quite 2K but sits right between full HD+ and QHD. Colors are rich, contrast is deep thanks to OLED tech, and it looks excellent whether you’re browsing, watching videos, or gaming.

What makes it even better is the 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, which adjusts between 60, 90, and 120Hz depending on what you’re doing. This helps conserve battery when you don’t need the extra frames while keeping things real smooth when you do. The touch sampling rate goes up to 240Hz, which adds a noticeable edge in responsiveness, especially in fast-paced games.

As for protection, you’re getting Gorilla Glass 7i again, which should give you peace of mind if you’re prone to the occasional drop. Watching content on this display is an enjoyable experience. The stereo speakers also help with that, providing a full and immersive sound profile. Audio gets loud enough to fill a room and stays fairly balanced, though bass is a little on the lighter side.

Biometrics are handled through an in-display fingerprint sensor, and it’s fast and accurate. There’s also face unlock, which works well in most lighting conditions.

Cameras

The OPPO Reno14 Pro is equipped with a triple 50MP rear camera setup composed of a main sensor with optical image stabilization, an ultrawide lens, and a periscope telephoto with 3.5x optical zoom. On paper, this setup looks promising and definitely gives you a lot of flexibility when it comes to framing and shooting different scenes.

In daylight or well-lit conditions, images come out vibrant with good color reproduction and contrast. The periscope lens works well for zoomed-in shots without losing much detail, while the ultrawide handles landscapes and group photos decently with minimal distortion.

However, there are moments when photos can appear softer than expected, particularly when lighting isn’t optimal or when you’re capturing textures like skin or foliage. It’s not something that ruins the shot, but it’s noticeable if you’re used to sharper image processing. That softness can also show up in indoor or lower light situations where detail tends to drop off just a bit.

The front camera is also a 50MP shooter and comes with autofocus, which is a big plus. Selfies come out clear in good lighting, with natural skin tones and decent background separation. It also handles video calls and front-facing video recording well, making it versatile for casual vlogging or content creation.

You also get some extra tools built into the camera app like AI Flash Photography and AI LivePhoto, which help improve low-light performance or add some motion-based creativity to your stills. They’re handy for users who want to tweak their shots quickly without diving into third-party editing apps.

All in all, the Reno14 Pro gives you a strong and versatile camera system with plenty of features to explore. Just don’t expect every shot to come out ultra-crisp, especially when lighting isn’t on your side.

You can judge it for yourself though with our sample shots here!

Performance and Benchmarks

Under the hood, the OPPO Reno14 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset while being paired with the Mali-G720 MC7 GPU. You’ve got options for 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, and storage comes in three options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

For daily tasks like messaging, browsing, and social media, performance is smooth and efficient. App switching is fast, animations are fluid, and you won’t feel any lag even if you’re multitasking heavily.

When it comes to gaming, casual titles like Umamusume and Pokémon Unite run well on high settings without any noticeable stutters. These kinds of games don’t demand a lot from the GPU, and the phone handles them effortlessly.

Graphic-heavy games like Wuthering Waves, Honkai Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero do push the phone a bit harder. There is a bit of lag at first, especially during intense combat and graphically-demanding animations. However, thanks to OPPO’s HyperBoost system, things settle down after a short while. HyperBoost helps manage resources better during gameplay, reducing frame drops and keeping the experience playable.

You probably won’t be running these heavier titles at max settings without some compromises, but with HyperBoost on, they’re definitely still enjoyable. The thermals seem managed well enough as I haven’t experienced intense overheating with the device.

OS, Apps, and UI

The Reno14 Pro runs on ColorOS 15 based on Android 15. It’s a clean and modern UI with plenty of room for customization. You’ll find options for themes, icon packs, and even transitions, so if you like to tweak your phone’s look, you’ll enjoy this one.

A gripe that I have is that there is a lot of bloatware right out of the box. They come in folders which you can delete and uninstall, but they are an eyesore the first time you boot the phone up.

Navigation is smooth, and the high refresh rate display helps keep everything feeling responsive. The system animations are polished, and even gesture controls feel natural and fluid. The app drawer and notification shade are easy to use, and the multitasking interface lets you open apps in split-screen or floating windows.

There are some notable features like AI Editor 2.0, AI Flash Photography, and AI LivePhoto baked into the camera app. These tools give you smart ways to enhance photos, edit motion pictures, or fine-tune lighting after the fact.

Connectivity and Battery Life

The OPPO Reno14 Pro checks all the right boxes in the connectivity department. It supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6e, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. You also get support for dual nano-SIMs.

Whether you’re transferring files, gaming online, or just hopping between networks, you’ll find the experience stable and reliable.

As for battery, you’re getting a large 6,200mAh unit, which is more than enough to last a full day and then some. In fact, in our PCMark battery test, the OPPO Reno14 Pro scored 11 hours and 32 minutes, which is a solid result considering the high refresh rate and OLED screen. That number should translate to real-world use involving snapping some pics, gaming, and social media browsing without worrying about running to the charger by mid-day.

And when it does need a recharge, OPPO includes 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging, along with 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging. From a power management perspective, the Reno14 Pro is efficient. The big battery paired with flexible charging options makes it a great choice for power users or anyone who’s always on the go.

Price and Final Thoughts

The OPPO Reno14 Pro will have a suggested retail price of Php 47,999 for the 12GB RAM and 512GB storage combo. This is the most expensive Reno number series the company has ever released, crossing the usual 40k borders of other flagship devices from Xiaomi (the Xiaomi 15 came in at just 46k) and vivo (the X200 FE comes in at 45k).

You’re getting strong durability, a great display, triple 50MP cameras, and a decent gaming experience. On paper, it looks like OPPO checked off a good chunk of the important boxes here.

If you’re someone who wants a reliable everyday phone with good battery life, solid cameras, and enough power for casual to moderately heavy gaming, this might be the one to consider.
