Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ Review

Samsung announced its latest tablets with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ last August. These units have the Snapdragon 865+ processor and S-Pen support. We managed to get our hands on the and here’s what you guys need to know if you’re thinking of buying one.

Design and Construction

The unit we got is the Mystic Black color with a brushed aluminum unibody design. Upfront, you’d be greeted by the 12.4-inch Super AMOLED WQXGA+ display that has a 120Hz refresh rate and has a screen-to-body ratio of 84.6%.

Up at the top of the Galaxy Tab S7+, you will find the microSD card and the nano-SIM tray on one side and the volume and lock buttons.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ has thin bezels and the 8MP front can be found up to in landscape mode. On the sides, you will find the powerful speakers by AKG, alongside the USB Type-C port on the right.

At the bottom of the unit, you will find the 4-pin connector to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ Book Cover keyboard.

Situated at the back are the 13MP main and 5MP ultra-wide cameras on the upper left corner together with the magnetic holder which holds and charges the S Pen.

Display and Multimedia

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ has a 2800 x 1752 resolution or 266 pixels-per-inch and is also equipped with speakers by AKG with Dolby Atmos.

The videos are vivid, bright, and clear while the speakers give you a different experience with the powerful, crisp, and well-rounded sound. Binge-watch your favorite series on Netflix, see your K-Pop idols for hours, or check-out that new vlog your friend put up online with the whopping 12.4-inch display and quad-speaker set-up.

Camera

Taking photos with tablets is really not a thing and the probability of using tablets as your main point-and-shoot device is very slim as these gadgets are big and bulky. It would really be uncomfortable to bring these out for photo taking.

The 13MP main and 5MP ultra-wide cameras on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ deliver an average standard for its photos. They tend to be a bit grainy and colors are not as detailed as you would expect them from a gadget that would cost at this price point. As for the front camera, it does its job to make yourself seen for voice calls but not really as something to use for taking great selfies. For the videos, you may record at UHD 3840 x 2160 at 30 fps.

OS, UI, and Apps

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ runs on One UI 2.5, Android version 10. It has Google Mobile Services pre-installed like Chrome, Drive, Youtube, YT Music, Gmail, Play Movies & TV, Duo, Maps, and Photos.

One unique feature of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is that it can run on Samsung DeX on its own without having to connect it to an external monitor. This lets you enjoy a more desktop-like interface for productivity.

Paired with the latest version of the S-Pen which has ultra-low latency and air action for quick control, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ lets you draw and write on the tablet with ease. It has Clip Studio, Noteshelf, and Canva pre-installed on the tablet and comes with a free premium subscription for some of these applications.

As for the storage, you are given 256gb of usable space and can be expanded further up to 1TB for your videos, photos, music, Docs, Excel, and PowerPoint files.

Performance and Benchmarks

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ with an 8GB RAM. I challenged the tablet by doing multiple tasks at once like writing an article, listening to music, and doing social media at the same time.  Performance on the tablet is very fluid, it is able to handle heavy tasks and usage without lagging. Check-out the benchmark scores below:

• AnTuTu v8 – 555,657
• Geekbench 5 – 945 (Single-Core), 2,664 (Multi-Core)
• 3DMark SSE – 6,832 (OpenGL ES 3.1), 6,267 (Vulkan)
• PCMark Work – 12,444
• AndroBench – 1,616.35MB/s (Seq. Read), 743.22MB/s (Seq. Write)

Connectivity and Battery Life

Connectivity is not an issue with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ as it has LTE connectivity, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. It has a 10,090mAh battery that can last for about 14 hours of video playback and is supported by 45W super-fast charging.

Conclusion

For all the features that come with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+, it is an easy pick for anyone who is looking to do productive tasks without having to bring bulky gadgets like laptops. It’s portable, well-equipped, and has the current best features that an Android tablet can offer. The only thing that would stop you from getting this device is its price at PHP 63,990USD 1,090INR 92,440EUR 1,039CNY 7,941. If you ask me personally, that is a price that I am willing to pay. After all, you get what you pay for with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+.
