SoundPEATS QY7 Bluetooth Earphones Quick Review

We recently received a sporty Bluetooth earphone from SoundPEATS. It’s a budget wireless earphone for working out or everyday use. Here’s our quick review to see how the SoundPEATS QY7 fares.

What’s In the Box

The packaging of the SoundPEATS QY7 is fairly modest and comes with the following:

  • Carrying case
  • Small, medium, large ear tips
  • Small, medium, large ear hooks
  • Small, medium, large wing tips
  • Micro-USB cable

Design and Construction

Like most wireless active earphones available in the market, the QY7 is not totally wireless. The left and right earpieces are joined together by a short flat wire. The wire does serve a purpose as the user will put the device over his or her neck.

The left earpiece of the QY7 has the covered micro-USB port for charging.

The right earpiece looks identical with the left but it’s pretty busy as it houses the power button along with the volume control buttons. There’s also a tiny hole present for the onboard microphone. We do find the buttons a bit stiff to press and awkwardly placed, especially the power button that also acts an action button. We often find ourselves pressing the device to our ear whenever we have to press the button.

Overall, the QY7 sports a decent build. There’s nothing special about its design and material but it gets the job done. It’s also lightweight and doesn’t put stress when placed in the ear.

Setup and Features

Setting up the QY7 is simple. Upon choosing your size of ear and wing tips, long press the power button and it’ll flash a blue light to indicate that it’s open for pairing. The device is named “QY7” when scanned, connect to it and wait for a while as the device is currently pairing. You’re good to go after the source device, in our case is our mobile phone, says it’s connected. It works with iOS and Android.

You can also answer calls with the QY7 thanks to the built-in microphone with a noise-cancelling feat. The device supports Bluetooth 4.0 with a range of about 10 meters and is rated IPX4 for sweat resistance. There’s no option to connect the QY7 through a 3.5mm port making the device available only for Bluetooth-enabled devices.

Sound Quality

We tested out the QY7 with the Vivo Y53 we recently reviewed and, as always, resorted to Spotify (High-Quality settings) to check out numerous songs to listen to. We’re happy to tell everyone that the QY7 didn’t disappoint.

Mids and highs are clearly reproduced. Acoustic songs are pleasant to hear. It’s not the cleanest we’ve heard but for a budget Bluetooth earphone, it’s great sounding.

Bass is okay. It gets deep enough to keep the beat of pop songs. If the QY7 is designed for use when jogging and working out, a bassy playlist will sound good and the volume levels also get pretty high.

Battery Life

SoundPeats claims a battery life of 5 hours for the QY7 with a 2 hour charge time. Of course, actual usage will vary depending on volume. Its full charge is more than enough, though, for a complete workout and a long run.

Conclusion

Perhaps the best thing about the QY7 is its price. Upon checking other SoundPEATS products internationally, this variant is the cheapest among them. It’s just priced at Php1,200 locally which you can purchase through here.

The SoundPEATS QY7 is a practical Bluetooth earphone for an active lifestyle. Its deep bass is suited for a workout and fast-paced songs plus the changeable tips are a welcome addition just in case you like to keep the device on your ear.

SoundPEATS QY7 specs:
Bluetooth 4.1+EDR, 10m range
IPX4 Sweat resistant
CVC 6.0 Noise-cancelling mic
80mAH rechargeable battery
Minimum Rated Talk Time: 5 hours
Minimum Rated Standby Time: 10 hours
16.4g

What we liked about it:

  • High volume levels
  • Good sound quality
  • Lightweight
  • Affordable

What we don’t:

  • Bothersome button placement

  1. Expensive for an OEM. Why not buy the orig QCY QY7 instead for 799 in lazada.

    • Sorry, it seems the QCY QY7 @799 is not anymore available in lazada. It was sold by PowerSupport.

Pros: great sound for the price.

Cons: using it for a year now and the charging flap is already gone. Thankfully it still can withstand my sweat.
