How to have a safe and cartless grocery shopping using the PUREGOLD MOBILE app
Everyone needs to buy groceries. To some, it’s an enjoyable experience, but for others, it’s a bit inconvenient, especially now that we have a public health crisis. You have to follow health protocols, mind social distancing, and endure extra-long lines. To help customers with the inconveniences, Puregold made the PUREGOLD MOBILE app.
The PUREGOLD MOBILE app is a free-to-download app that is available on the Google Play Store (for Android users) or the Apple App Store (for iOS users). Its purpose is to make grocery shopping at Puregold faster and more convenient as it eliminates the need to haul around a cart in the store and allows you to skip the long lines in the cashier checkout. Puregold calls it your Shopping ALLY (SALLY). The PUREGOLD MOBILE app has been around for a while now, but Puregold continuously provides updates to make it easier to use and navigate.
They have Sally’s Deals which shows discounted or bundled items that are exclusively offered in the app, Sally’s New Products which shows products that will be offered a week before it becomes available in stores, and Shop by Category feature so you can easily find products based on category: Grocery Staples. Canned Goods, Fruits & Vegetables, Household Maintenance, etc. They have also expanded their products to include WiFi gadgets, SIM cards, and call cards.
The concept may be new for a lot of customers, but it’s easy to grasp. All the user needs to do is scan the barcode of the products they want to purchase using the app, pay for the products using flexible payment methods, then get the items at the pick-up counter. You can even come back to pick up at a later time or replenish grocery items by reordering products from the Order History. Users can get real-time responses about order status and other grocery-related inquiries through the ASK SALLY in-app chat.

The first thing that you need to do is open the app and register. Once that’s done, select In-Store Pick Up and select a Puregold branch where the PUREGOLD MOBILE app is supported. As of writing, 44 stores can be accessed. You can check which store is available in your area in the app.
After selecting a branch, you can now start scanning the barcodes of products. There are two ways you can do this: 1) in the store itself, or 2) at home so you can replenish your household items. The items will then appear in your cart.
Once you’re done picking the items, you can proceed to check-out and pay for the items. You can choose to pay cash at the store or use your debit/credit card. GCash option is also available. Puregold PERKS and Tindahan Ni Aling Puring (TNAP) members can link their card details to view their earned points.
Your order will then be prepared by assigned pickers and baggers. You can also track the progress in the app and will be notified once your order is ready for pick-up.
If you’re doing the groceries from home and just want the items delivered, there’s an option for that as well. Just tap on Delivery, take note of the delivery guidelines, input and save your address, and select your address. The app will then recommend the nearest available branch. All you need to do is shop from the app, checkout, select a payment method, and place your order. Note that orders made from 6 AM to 2 PM will be delivered the same day, while orders made from 2:01 PM to 10 PM will be delivered the next day.
Again, the whole process didn’t require us to bring a cart around or lineup in the counter. It’s safe, convenient, saves time, and even fun to use as we never shopped this way before.
