vivo Y100 to launch officially in PH April 27

We recently reported that the vivo Y100 is launching in the Philippines some time during the first week of April. Now, vivo Philippines has confirmed that the new model’s official launch is scheduled at a later time on April 27th.

Our previous report listed the vivo Y100 price at PHP 11,749, but it appears this wasn’t the final price. In fact, the brand updated it to PHP 13,499 with an SRP of PHP 14,999 based on the images on its official store listing via Shopee.

This is kind of confusing since the brand said in a press release that, “Be sure to mark your calendars for April 27, 2024, when the official price will be announced.”

So, what exactly are we talking about here?

There is a chance that the model they are referring to is the 5G variant of the vivo Y100. And this is almost true by looking at the initial specs vivo Philippines had mentioned.

In the press release, vivo said that this specific model of vivo Y100 will pack a 50-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultrawide at the rear. This matches exactly the specs on the vivo Y100 5G article we published in January.

The vivo Y100 that is currently selling on vivo’s Shopee store has a different camera setup, specifically it is only using a 2-megapixel depth sensor.

We’re going to call this the vivo Y100 4G for the sake of comparison and because it uses Snapdragon 685 chipset is limited to 4G connectivity. Whereas the vivo Y100 5G is using a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2.

Both variants share identical specs too, adding more to the confusion. A 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED display, 5000mAh battery with 80W wired charging, 8GB+256GB configuration, and sporting ‘Photochromic’ designs.

That said, we contacted vivo Philippines to clarify which version will launch on April 27th in the Philippines. And they confirmed it will be the 4G variant.
