एसर अस्पिरा एस3 अल्ट्राबुक का अनबॉक्सिंग और पहली प्रभाव

हमने आज सुबह यह Acer Aspire S3 अल्ट्राबुक प्राप्त की। यह पिछले सप्ताह Acer Philippines द्वारा आयोजित Aspire S3 के लॉन्च इवेंट में हुए रेफ़ल का पुरस्कार था, जो इस देश में जारी होने वाले पहले अल्ट्राबुक्स में से एक है।

Aspire S3 ने अपने ब्रश किए गए एल्युमीनियम फिनिश, वक्रित कोनों, तिरछे किनारों और उसकी विशिष्ट चिकलेट-टाइप कीबोर्ड के साथ मैकबुक एयर से कुछ डिज़ाइन संकेत लिए हैं।

यह पतला है, हल्का है और निश्चित रूप से आकर्षक। यह 13-इंच MBA जितना पतला नहीं है, लेकिन उसकी सीमा के भीतर है। एयर की टियर-ड्रॉप डिज़ाइन के विपरीत, Aspire S3 सिरे से आधार तक समतल है।

दाईं ओर स्थित SD कार्ड रीडर और बाईं ओर 3.5mm ऑडियो पोर्ट को छोड़कर, सभी अन्य पोस्ट पीछे स्थित हैं -- 2 USB 2.0 पोर्ट और एक पूर्ण HDMI पोर्ट जो पीछे के सिरे पर सुव्यवस्थित रूप से संरेखित हैं।

सिंगापुर में वापस आकर, मैंने देखा कि सिम लिम के सभी पीसी स्टोरों में यह यूनिट प्रदर्शित थी और इसमें तीन कॉन्फ़िगरेशन उपलब्ध थे — Core i3, i5 और i7।

यह विन्यास लगभग उसी प्रकार का है जो Php60+k के मूल्य वाले Macbook Air में मिलता है, सिवाय HDD के। एक अर्थ में, यदि आप केवल स्पेक्स और फॉर्म फैक्टर पर ध्यान दें, तो आप कहेंगे कि S3 MBA से लगभग 25% सस्ता है।

स्मूथ और उपयोग में आसान है, मल्टी-टच बेहतरीन काम करता है, और पूर्ण-आकार की कीबोर्ड उपयोग करने में सुविधाजनक है। अभी केवल एक दिन बीता है, इसलिए हम वास्तव में कोई ठोस निष्कर्ष नहीं निकाल सकते।

It seems that as laptops got thinner, the space for creativity in designs got narrower. :P It’s always nice to finally have competition for what used to be a niche product category, but it’s everyone trailing Apple all over again.

I got to see the Acer S3 in their roadshow in SM north and the feel is really plastic all over.

Plus if I would buy an Ultrabook I would make sure its a true SSD since acer is just using smart cache technology.

I thought this one could really amaze me. I am planning to buy one Acer laptop but upon reading all the comments here, I am quite confused now whether to pursue on buying it or not. I am right now here in the Philippines and I don’t want my money to go to waste.

I just bought one recently and it frequently crashes. Wifi connection is also selective. Very poor product. looking forward to yugatech’s review; i want to know if he had the same experience.

In reading reviews the main complaint is the battery life.

how’s the battery life?

Less than 5 hours? or even worse?

wifi off, at low battery consumption setting – 6 hours

wifi on, at low battery consumption, – 4 to 4 1/2 hours

wife on, at balanced battery consumption – 2 1/2 to 3 hours.

My unit was defective. I am not sure if this is the standard. I am waiting for the replacement.

What! Its just out in the market and its already defective? O_o

I just got a hands-on with this laptop and I’m disappointed to tell you that this does not have a unibody metal construction. The only part that’s attractive in this ultrabook is the lid…the rest is just cheap plastic that’s made to look like a metal. Not to mention, someone at laptopmag.com criticized the cheap plastic feel of the Acer Aspire S3.

If you want the best ultrabook in town, just get the Asus Zenbook UX31 because everything else in that ultrabook is made of metal…even the keyboard is made from metal too.

Nice.. for some reason this doesn’t attract me like Asus’ and Toshiba’s ultrabooks.

Saw a unit of this earlier today at Octagon and got VERY interested! It’s way cheaper than the MBA and the Samsung Series 9. I’m definitely looking forward to more contenders for my next laptop upgrade. ^_^

Not bad though, the price is reasonable. But please, another iCopied design. I hope manufacturers come up with something orignal that will set them apart from Apple.

Nice. I love the specs and the fact that it looks like Apple. The price is high though but it’s worth it. I wanna have one. ;)

they had a lot of give-aways last week like a digital camera, dvd reader and free wireless mouse. i almost bought one but so sad, i was not able to bring my atm with me

Hi Iyan… Maybe this trackpad works like Mac’s. The trackpad itself is the the button (press-able). Just guessing. :)

This is a good chance for the Filipinos especially those who are Apple enthusiasts. A model that resembles that of Apple will definitely boosts the confidence of its owners.

Nice, except for the fact that I really hate chiclet keyboards. I like my keys as big as possible, with little-to-no space in-between them. How does that trackpad work? I don’t see any buttons.

For some reason, I’m always attracted to Acer and Asus laptop designs. I hope the price will get lower soon (though the price is pretty reasonable at this point)
