Roblox faces 15-day deadline after no cooperation

Roblox may be blocked in the Philippines after the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) shortened its deadline for the company to respond to safety concerns from 30 days to 15.

The CICC said Roblox did not cooperate with its request to address issues related to online safety. The agency flagged the platform as a national security risk, saying it has been used by criminals to target minors, including cases involving predators and drug-related activities.

The decision was discussed during a meeting in Quezon City with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and local telecom companies. Telcos agreed to prepare to block access to Roblox across the country, setting up the system needed if the ban pushes through.

Officials said the move aims to protect children from online harm. The CICC also reminded parents to monitor their children’s online activity and be aware of the risks in online platforms.

Roblox is widely used in the Philippines, especially among young players. If the ban is enforced, millions of users may lose access to the platform.

The possible restriction also raises concerns about its effect on local gamers, content creators, and the country’s digital space.
