WhatsApp is getting festive for 2026. The platform has released a set of New Year-themed features as it prepares for what is usually its busiest day, the New Year countdown, where billions of messages and calls are sent worldwide. On a normal day, WhatsApp handles 100 billion+ messages and around 2 billion calls, but New Year’s Eve pushes those numbers even higher.
To celebrate, users can now enjoy a 2026 sticker pack, video call effects like confetti and fireworks, plus animated reactions when using the confetti emoji. WhatsApp is also adding animated stickers to Status for the first time, complete with a special New Year layout.
For party planning, WhatsApp reminds users about helpful tools like event creation, polls, pinned updates, live location sharing, voice notes, and video notes. All New Year features are live now and will stay available throughout the holiday season.
