Gurman: All iPhone 15 models adopt Dynamic Island, USB-C

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has confirmed some speculations about what’s next of the iPhone: same screen sizes as the iPhone 14 series, all rocking the Dynamic Island, and of course, the USB Type-C replacing the good ol’ Lightning port.

The Dynamic Island, firstly applied on the iPhone 14 Pro model, takes utilization of the pill-shaped notch above the iPhone that houses the selfie camera. Apple is apparently keeping it. Despite previous reports of Android phones copying the feature, the tech giant seems unfazed of another trend they might spark in the smartphone industry.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 15 Pro models are to feature titanium frame with haptic volume buttons — similar to how iPhone SE’s Home button and newer trackpads on the MacBook work.

Furthermore, Apple will reportedly release its mixed-reality headset this year after several delays. Gurman claims that it will likely be under the name ‘Reality Pro’ and running the xrOS.

As for the other devices including the iPad and Apple wearables, expect no major updates this 2023. “Updates to the 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pros won’t come until the first half of 2024, I’m told. These will likely include a new design and they’re set to include OLED displays, a first for an iPad,” Gurman said.

He also said that there will be a new Mac Pro running on Apple M2 Ultra, however, it will look identical to the 2019 model, infamous for resembling a cheese grater. Adding to that is its incapability of user-upgradable RAM.

Going back to the iPhone 15 series, they are expected to be announced in September as usual.
