It looks like vivo is skipping the S40 lineup entirely and for good reason. Due to tetraphobia (the Chinese superstition around the number four), the company is jumping straight to the vivo S50 series, which is now making rounds online after new specs surfaced.
According to leaks, the vivo S50 Pro mini will retain its 6.31-inch display, while the regular S50 will feature a slightly smaller 6.59-inch flat panel, both with 1.5K resolution. The S50 reportedly sports a metal frame and a flagship-level periscope telephoto lens, while the S50 Pro mini could feature all-around flagship-grade hardware.
Under the hood, the Pro mini is tipped to be powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 chipset, paired with an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and a triple rear camera setup that includes another periscope lens.
The vivo S50 series is expected to debut next month in China, taking on the OPPO Reno15 and Honor 500 series.
