PC shipments worldwide continue to decline in the first quarter of 2023, according to the preliminary results from the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker.
In the report, global PC shipments for Q1 of 2023 amounted to 56.9 million, which is a 29% drop from last year.

According to the IDC, “weak demand, excess inventory, and a worsening macroeconomic climate” all contribute to the lower number of shipments compared to last year.
This continues the trend that the IDC observed in the fourth quarter of 2022, wherein an 18.5% drop in PC shipments was observed.
Included in the IDC’s report is a summary of the top 5 traditional PC companies for Q1 of 2023. Heading the pack in terms of shipments was Lenovo, with 12.7 million PC units shipped.
Next is HP Inc. with 12.0 million units, and then Dell Technologies at third with 9.5 million shipments.
