Dell Latitude 13 7390 2-in-1 Hands-on, First Impressions

Launched alongside the Latitude 13 7390, the Latitude 13 7390 2-in-1 is the more flexible twin of Dell’s newly launched laptop. The notebook sports almost the same specs, construction, and even ports to its more stationary sibling, save for the fact that it is now a 2-in-1.

As mentioned earlier, the Dell Latitude 13 7390 2-in-1 is just the flexible twin of the Latitude 13 7390. As such, it has that same magnesium alloy chassis and overall simple, yet elegant and sophisticated, design. Construction-wise, we get the same minimal screen, keyboard, and chassis flex. Although, this time we have a more flexible and sturdy hinge, thanks to the 2-in-1 structure of the laptop.

Being a 2-in-1 it can swap between four different modes – Laptop, Tablet, Tent, and Stand. It’s still a laptop that can easily be carried and stowed away, only this time it’s a little more flexible and versatile.

Again, like the Latitude 13 7390, the Latitude 13 7390 2-in-1 is equipped with a 13.3-inch FHD display. Only this time, it has touch support to cater its 2-in-1 form factor. Apart from that, it now has stylus support, which is a plus for professionals in the graphics industry, or simply even those who love drawing. Dell has their own pen, which can be bought separately. As for the display itself, we still get a good color reproduction, accuracy, and viewing angles.

Once again, due to the form factor, we’ll be greeted by a TKL (tenkeyless, no Numpad) keyboard, with slightly lowered but still compressed arrow keys. The feel of the keyboard, as expected, is the same with the Latitude 13 7390. It has average key travel with good tactile feedback. Adjustable backlighting is also present, which is always a plus especially for those who love working in the dark. Then again, we still get those small compressed arrow keys that can cause wrong key presses at times.

The trackpad is also the same, it has that matte-like finish and registers gestures quite well. Although, it retains the mushy and shallow left and right clicks.

For the I/O, we get a slightly different setup. While we still get the USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port, HDMI port, and a USB 3.0 Type-A port on the left, the power input is now changed into a USB Type-C plug-in, which is a little more versatile than your regular power port. The right side is pretty much the same, we have an ethernet port, another USB 3.0 Type-A port, a microSD card reader, a slot for a SIM tray, and an audio port.

The Dell Latitude 13 7390 2-in-1, like its sibling, is a perfect fit for the traveling professional. It retains most of what makes the Latitude 13 7390 an interesting device — respectable performance, a thin and light frame, an elegant design, and a well-constructed body. Only this time it adds a bit more with its 2-in-1 form factor, which is a plus for anyone looking to have more than just a laptop or is in need of a bit more flexibility.

The laptop has a starting price of Php76,000 and is now available in the Philippines.
