Lenovo first unveiled the IdeaPad L340 Gaming Laptop back in April. Launched recently, we were able to get our hands on this no-frills yet sleek-looking affordable gaming laptop. Check it out.
Looking at its physical body, nothing about this laptop’s design screams that it’s a gaming laptop. Available only in one color which Lenovo dubs as “Granite Black”, the device’s cover takes on a dark gray metallic finish, with the Lenovo logo at the upper corner. It looks like your average work or business laptop.
The story changes though, upon lifting the lid. Greeting users is a 15.6-inch display and a full-sized keyboard that’s accented with the color blue. The power button can also be found at the upper right corner of the keyboard. Once the laptop is powered on, the keyboard has blue lighting underneath, giving the L340 that gaming laptop feel. Typing on the keyboard, the keys feel slightly springy and have a soft clicking sound to them. Below the keyboard is a sizeable trackpad. It’s pretty smooth to the touch and responsive when used.
As mentioned, the display measures at 15.6-inches, with thick bezels surrounding it. At the top bezel sits a webcam with a sliding shutter that lets users cover up the camera if not in use. I think this adding in this privacy feature to the laptop is brilliant; there’s no need to cover the laptop with a sticker or buy a separate webcam cover and stick it to the laptop just to hide it away.
When it comes to ports, the L340 has a number of them. Over the left side, there’s a charging port, an RJ45 port, HDMI, two USB-A 3.1 (Gen 1) ports, a 3.5mm audio and mic jack, and one USB-C port.
Oddly enough, Lenovo crammed all the ports and slots on the left side. The right side only has a Kensington lock slot.
As for the speakers, they’re located on the lower portion of both sides of the L340. They’re not that noticeable, and you’ll only really feel the speaker holes if you run your fingers against the sides of the laptop.
Powered by up to 9th Gen Intel Core i7 and up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, the Lenovo L340 packs in up to 1TB of storage, 8GB of RAM, and has Windows 10 for its operating system. The phrase “budget gaming laptop” isn’t touted around much these days, so we’re looking to how much the L340 will live up to those words. Keep an eye out for our full review.
The Lenovo IdeaPad L340 Gaming laptop has a starting price of PHP 49,995USD 852INR 72,223EUR 811CNY 6,204.
