5-inch Lenovo S880 dual-SIM lands, priced at Php14,999

Listen to article

Lenovo Mobile is introducing another smartphone in the Philippines but this time, it’s going to be a huge 5-inch, dual-SIM phone called Lenovo S880.

The Lenovo S880 was first introduced in China as the LePhone S880.

Just like it’s earlier sibling, the S880 comes with dual-SIM functionality but retains most of the specs, except for a bigger screen.

Lenovo LePhone S880 specs:
5.0″ LCD display @ 480×800 pixels
1.0GHz MediaTek MT6575 processor
512MB RAM
4Gb internal storage
up to 32Gb via microSD
3G/HSDPA, dual-SIM, dual-standby
WiFi 802.11 b/g/n
Bluetooth 2.1
GPS with aGPS support
2250mAh Li-Ion battery
Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Also, we noticed the 2250mAh battery is not as big as the 2500mAh of the P700. Nevertheless, we expect more or less the same battery performance since it’s just a 10% decrease in the rating.

The Lenovo S880 will be released in stores soon and have a retail price of Php14,999.

Lenovo S880 have similar internal specs. with P700 except for the battery. P700 have 2500mAh while S880 have 2250mAh. I bought it in Jakarta during there holiday promo for P8,354 (P1=Rp226) (equivalent to Peso). Yes the normal/retail price is P14,999.S880 Cons: GPS didn’t function well and battery should be more bigger capacity. Other features are good.

make the memory 1GB (instead of 512MB)
use MTK 6577 (instead of MTK 6575)
and retail it @ 12,999 (instead of 14,999)

also don’t forget to bundle the belkin external battery again or better yet exclude the belkin batt and make the price @11,,999.

1GB RAM, MTK6577 for only Php 11,999?? If that happened, the P700 will surely die. I believe Lenovo is not that stupid.

I bought this phone last week and I’m so satisfied with the performance (even better than my blackberry torch 2 9810, screen size, screen resolution. And I only bought on a cheap price. plus/minus Php 8000 (conversion factor) here in Indonesia.

Hmmmm That larger screen is good but a 1 inch increase for 5K is not worth it IMO

I’d rather just get the 4 inch version. Still if you like Big Screens then this is for you

Just wondering how texts are going to look like on a 5-inch screen with only 480×800 pixels.

Also, still no LED flash? At the very least they’re offering this one in white.

Get the P700 instead. This is just a P700 with a larger screen.

They should’ve made it a dual-core, 1GB RAM and retained the 2,500mAh battery they used on the P700. Otherwise, good luck to Lenovo in selling these units. What’s the rationale for the low spec, for the reason of keeping the price down? MediaTek processors are ultra cheap considering they will source it in their home country. And all batteries installed on almost all cellphones are made in China.

A bit out of topic, but what was that post I’ve read from some website earlier today about Lenovo phones and their supposed spy viruses stuff. Sounds bs to me but yeah just wondering.

I’d want this phone, if only they didn’t cripple it with WVGA display and 512 MB RAM.

Oh, well.

But for 15k, this phone is a good one.
