Apple iPhone XS Max ranks second on DXOMark Mobile

The camera and video quality are always the two of the strong suits of an Apple iPhone device. Recently, DXOMark tested the Apple iPhone XS Max and it took the second spot from the HTC U12+.

In a test summary from DxOMark, the iPhone XS Max scored 110 in the Photo department.

Pros:

  • Very good target exposure and dynamic range in bright light and indoor conditions
  • Good detail in all conditions
  • Vivid and pleasant colors in most situations
  • Fast and accurate autofocus
  • Very good subject isolation and pleasant spotlight effect in bokeh mode

Cons: 

  • Flash images often underexposed
  • Luminance noise is noticeable in lower light and the shadow areas of high-contrast scenes
  • Coarse luminance noise and a lack of detail are noticeable in zoom shots

As for the Video department, the device got a score of 96.

Pros:

  • Very wide dynamic range
  • Very good image stabilization
  • Fast and repeatable autofocus
  • Good image detail, especially when shooting outdoors

Cons: 

  • Sometimes unstable white balance when shooting under indoor lighting
  • Luminance noise in lower light

With a total average score of 105, the iPhone XS Max fell short to the Huawei P20 Pro’s score of 109. It is without a doubt that Apple didn’t get rusty improving the camera performance of its latest smartphones.
