Here are the advantages of each smartphone:
ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2
Huawei Y9 2019
For the display, the Y9 2019 has the upper-hand over the Max Pro M2 due to its larger screen size and taller aspect ratio. This means that people will have a better time watching and streaming videos with the former.Â
Based on the benchmark scores, the Y9 2019 performs better than the Max Pro M2 in terms of CPU power and gaming capabilities for the Vulkan API. The latter, on the other hand, has better performance for the OpenGL ES 3.1 format.
In case you’re wondering what’s the difference with the OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan, they’re basically APIs used for performance and graphics development of applications. The former came first and is being used by the majority of games while the latter was developed a few years after which delivers better performance but has not yet reached the number of implementations like with the other one.
The Max Pro M2 comes with a wider rear camera aperture and a higher secondary camera resolution while the Y9 2019 has a higher main rear camera resolution and a wider front camera aperture. We’ve yet to test out their performance directly but here are some sample photos that I took on both devices. (ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 and Huawei Y9 2019)
Both phones come with above-average battery capacities, but the Max Pro M2 has a bigger battery setup than the Y9 2019. Our PCMark battery tests resulted with the former yielding a longer battery life. With this, it is clear who won in this aspect.
For this specs comparison, the decision is very much mixed. You can go with the ZenFone Max Pro M2 if you want to have a tougher screen, larger RAM, longer battery life, and the Stock Android experience. On the other hand, the Y9 2019 is the right pick for a better viewing experience, better performance, and if you are fond of taking selfies.
