Globe and Disney Southeast Asia has partnered up to bring Disney official content to the Philippines. We were able to appreciate the partnership since the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens as official merchandises and more were brought to our shores. Another fruit of this is the arrival of Disney Mobile smartphone in the country. What exactly is this device? Here is our quick unboxing and first impressions for it.
Table of Contents
At first, we were confused what to call the handset since it doesn’t have any model name of some sort, just Disney Mobile. It comes in two variants — a Mickey and a Frozen version. The one we have is the Mickey, obviously.
As we take the contents of the box out, we were pleasantly surprised to see a lot of Disney branding on them thus indicates this is a real Disney device. As can be seen from the image above, there’s an included pouch for every phone, and also, the earphone has Mickey’s ears on them.
Let’s get into the device itself. The handset is a 5-inch smartphone powered by Android 5.1 Lollipop. It’s got a quad-core processor from Qualcomm, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. The display is a high definition 720p IPS panel with good colors and wide viewing angles. Everything is fairly average when it comes to the internals of the handset.
Up front is the display topped with smooth glass although we can’t confirm which of the popular scratch-resistant type is used here. The earpiece, sensors, and 5MP front-facing camera are in its usual place on the top. The bottom bezel has three capacitive navigation keys that have backlighting (thankfully).
On the right are the power/lock button and volume rocker while the left side is bare. The chrome lining on the sides gives the phone a bit of sophisticated touch.
Up top is where both the micro-USB and 3.5mm jack are located. The bottom is devoid of any ports but the pinhole for the main microphone is conveniently sitting there.
Going to the back will show a bit of love in design rather than the usual plain boring plastic shell. The main 13MP camera module and its LED flash are located at the center-top part with a secondary microphone beside them. The speaker grille is near the bottom while a shiny Disney Mobile branding sits just above it. The panel has a smooth and matte finish to it. Dirt is quite tricky to avoid but it gets off easily.
Software-wise, not much has been done here. It’s still plain Android with some touches in the icons to make it Disney-fied. Exclusive apps and contents are onboard like a couple of games, lots of static and live wallpapers, and a few ringtones to enjoy.

Oh and not to mention IT KEEPS GOING TO GOOGLE VOICE FOR NO REASON!!!! I’m so fucking sick with this. If you can up the volume a bit and fix the shitty ass bug then maybe its not bad.
