Globe drops iPhone 3G Price by Php4,000

Listen to article

Globe Telecom today announced it will reduce the price of iPhone 3G by Php4,000 — that’s for both the 8GB and the 16GB model. That brings the 8GB down to Php33,599 and the 16GB version to Php39,799.

This promo/offer is available from February 27 to March 31, 2009 anywhere in the Philippines. For more information about Globe’s iPhone 3G offer, check out your nearest Globe Business Center or of the Globe iPhone 3G website. This is the second time Globe has slashed the price of the iPhone 3G in the Philippines.

Not sure if the dedicated iPhone 3G plans from Globe will also be adjusted because of this promo but the press release indicates this promo is for the prepaid kits. Globe started offering the Apple iPhone 3G last August 22, 2008 with the 16GB originally priced at Php48,889.

I can’t see the point why Globe had to put so much price with the phone.come on.. it does not even reach the standard like what N95 has. well anyway, if you have relatives far way from London.. better ask them to head their selves to the shelves of CarphoneWarehouse or O2 store.. coz iPhone 3Gs are up for grabs at 350GBP or roughly 24,000php (TAKENOTE: its pay-as-you-go or prepaid daw ata). I know by now what you’re thinking.. Now I wonder, how much difference did it cost you for that shiny little thing? =)

@ryan, it’s Apple that’s actually setting the price.

IMO it is still hefty, i’d rather get an 8GB iPod Touch and a slim 3G phone worth 8K.

then i still have extra 14K – which i can use to buy a netbook, a psp, a DSi, or a slim digicam.

much more wise decision in times of global financial crisis. ;-)

or wait for the rumored iPhone Nano! ;-)

Well, we all saw it first here.

In my case, I saw this in Philmug, linking it here.

Apple really gets the good timing. I have decided already between the 5800 and iPhone and I’ve chosen the Finnish phone. PLUS, I have also set the deadline for 5800 (buying season: March-April 6) OR iPhone (buying season-April 7 onwards).

Apple really locked this in. I might change my mind.

Still hefty if you ask me…

I think the pricing is very short-sighted – the kind that kills services even before they could fly.

They should just give it for free like Softbank in Japan (2 year contract) but without requiring us an ultra expensive plan at 5k per month.

AT&T is seeing the money in services and not in phone sales. I wonder why Globe’s business model is so backward.

ouch…..it hurts me a lot. I should have just waited for it this month. Just bought mine last January 9. Would this be a sign of a new iPhone coming?!!!
