Huawei Nova 3 announced: Kirin 970, 6GB RAM

Huawei doesn’t stop with the announcements as it has launched the Nova 3 in China, packing a 24-megapixel fusion selfie camera and flagship hardware in tow.

The Nova 3 bears almost the same internals as the Nova 3i sans the bigger RAM, the addition of the USB Type-C port, and a more powerful processor in the form of the company’s Kirin 970 chip that’s earlier seen with the Mate 10 series, P20 series, and Honor 10. There’s also a gold variant with the Nova 3 that quite resembles a citrus yellow color due to the gradient sheen it possesses.

Huawei Nova 3 specs:

  • 6.3-inch 18.5:9  IPS display @ 1080 x 2340 px
  • Octa-Core HiSilicon Kirin 970 (4×2.4 GHz Cortex-A73 + 4×1.8 GHz Cortex-A53)
  • Mali-G72 MP12 GPU
  • 6GB RAM
  • 128GB internal storage
  • expandable via microSD up to 256GB (uses SIM2)
  • Dual 16 MP (f/1.8) + 24 MP B/W (f/1.8) PDAF rear cameras with LED Flash
  • 24MP + 2MP ‘Fusion Selfie’ front camera
  • 4G LTE
  • Dual SIM, Dual Standby (nano, hybrid)
  • Dual-band WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS
  • USB Type-C 2.0
  • Fingerprint Scanner
  • EMUI 8.2 (Android 8.1 Oreo)
  • 3,750mAh non-removable battery
  • 157 x 73.7 x 7.3 mm
  • 166 g

The Huawei Nova 3 is expected to hit retail stores in China starting July 19 with a CNY2,999 price tag, or roughly Php23,900 when directly converted.

React to this article:
  1. Like it but the notch is a big no. Perhaps the notch will stay bcoz iPhone is sticking with it and dropping fs for face ID.

  2. Noticed that you wrote this – “The Nova 3 bears almost the same internals as the Nova 3i”

Then this” sans the bigger RAM, the addition of the USB Type-C port, and a more powerful processor” – so, different internals then?

    • There are also other internal parts such as modems for WiFi and cellular connectivity, slots for SIM and microSD cards, Bluetooth chips used, as well as battery capacity.

Batteries are considered internal parts since most brands are now making them nonremovable.

    • They have different modems as well. Kirin 970 supports Cat. 18 LTE, while Kirin 710 supports only up to Cat. 12/13. They even have different battery capacity.

I think with all these differences, it doesn’t count as “almost the same internals”?

  3. Hi. Is it really comes with 6GB RAM? Here in UAE it is only 4GB.
