HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro Plus, HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro now official

Last week, The HUAWEI Pura 80 series was unveiled. Alongside the HUAWEI Pura 80 Ultra 29, the line also offers the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro Plus and HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro.

Essentially, the two Pro models are the same device. However, the Pro+ model offers 2nd-gen Kunlun glass protection, more memory, and dual-satellite communication support for Beidou and Tiantong.

For other specs, they remain the same. Both devices have a 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 3,000-nit peak brightness. As per usual, the chipset has yet to be revealed by the company.

However, HUAWEI claims that it sports their new Ark Engine. This makes the devices 36% when compared to their predecessors. For battery, both devices offer 5,700mAh with support for 100W wired and 80W wireless fast charging via USB Type-C.

For optics, both phones boast a 1-inch 50-megapixel camera with variable aperture. It can go from f/1.6 to f/4.0 and offers OIS. They also have an upgraded 48-megapixel telephoto with up to 4x zoom. It also has a 40-megapixel ultrawide at the rear and a 13-megapixel ultrawide at the front for selfies.

Both devices are set to ship with HarmonyOS 5.1, at least for the Chinese models. As mentioned, the Pro+ model offers satellite support making it capable of two-way messaging. It lets users stay connected without the need to constantly point it to satellites. I should also note that the Pura 80 Pro (non-Plus model) only supports Beidou.

The HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro+ starts at CNY 7,999 (~PHP 62,000) with 12GB/512GB. It’s also available for CNY 8,999 (~PHP 70,000) with 12GB/1TB. Meanwhile, the HUAWEI Pura 80 Pro is available in China starting at CNY 6,499 (~PHP 50,000) with 12GB/256GB.

Details for its release in the Philippines have yet to be revealed. Of course, we’ll update readers should it be available as this is a developing story.

Communication graduate, closet cynic, and kid at heart. Duane is a rare person to find, quite literally. He often takes to himself but has proven his mettle in tech media with his quick wits. Well, the portfolio of scriptwriting, web content, and public relations help too, we suppose. As a homebody, he often spends his time on the streaming platform Twitch or ‘farming’ gaming clips with friends. He is also an avid fan of round glasses and anything relative to blueberries.
