Intel, Qualcomm, other companies ban Huawei as well

Listen to article

After Android and Google have cut-off ties with Huawei following the U.S. Government’s inclusion of Huawei in its blacklist, other tech suppliers have followed suit.

Bloomberg reports that chip designer and supplier companies such as Intel, Qualcomm, Xilinx Inc., and Broadcom, have suspended their deals with Huawei, effective immediately and until further notice. Intel supplies the server chips for Huawei’s laptop lines, while Qualcomm provides modems and other processors. It’s also reported that Micron Technology and Western Digital have joined the mentioned companies as well.

Another report from Nikkei Asian Review states that Infineon Technologies, a German chipmaker, has also suspended their shipments to Huawei. The report from Nikkei also suggests that companies from Europe might follow in freezing their shipments to Huawei as well.

Huawei has stated that it had been preparing for the situation by developing its own technology in the last few years.

Story developing.
