Lenovo A60 Android phone lands in the Philippines

Lenovo Mobile has just announced their very first phone (and an Android for that matter) in the country — a Gingerbread-touting, entry-level smartphone called the .

This is the first time we’ve actually heard of Lenovo going into the mobile market in the Philippines.

Lenovo A60 specs:
3.5″ HVGA display @ 320×480 pixels
MT6573 ARM11 650MHz + MT6162 ARM9 400MHz
PowerVR SGX 531
256MB RAM
512MB ROM
220MB internal storage
up to 16GB via microSD
3G/HSDPA
WiFi 802.11 b/g, WiFi hotspot
Bluetooth w/ A2DP, EDR
GPS with aGPS support
3.2MP rear camera
0.3MP front-facing camera

Oh wait — it’s dual-SIM too! Dual-standby, that is.

The suggested retail price is Php7,990USD 136INR 11,542EUR 130CNY 992. The specs doesn’t really inspire a lot of awe, especially that low-res screen. The specs aren’t verified so they might change as we dig for more info. Will get more details and update this once we get them.

  1. Why are there 2 processors, an ARM11 and an ARM9?

  2. dual processor?

  3. when will this be available in the market?

  4. I was wondering about that too. Two CPU’s with different clockspeeds? Is that possible?

  5. I think it is possible. It’s the same case with the first gen archos tablet. for efficiency maybe, the smaller cpu will take the lighter activities. I think they can’t work simultaneously as a 1Ghz++ processor though.

Specs of the phone is actually decent. with that price, it is in the same league of SE X8, Galaxy Mini, Nokia 500. This one got a dual-sim, so I guess its the best entry level android phone ATM.

  7. I was wondering about that myself but there are some youtube videos showing the A60 playing youtube videos.

I think i just typed something that somehow makes me laugh when I read it again….

  8. Where can you buy this phone?

  9. The price is OK, but it could’ve been a bit cheaper. It’s. actually cheaper here than if you purchase it from HOTMID.com or Merimobiles.

  10. Lenovo phones are like Nokia in China. :)

  11. i read in google searches that this doesn’t come with android market. is this true?

  12. WOW! another nice device.. exited to have one.. sooo affordable and yet its a yummy gingerbread :D

  13. The question is if the specs is enough to support flash. I doubt, because of it can, it would be the cheapest phone to offer full android experience. next would be SE xperia mini.

  14. Just the Android dual sim phone I’m looking for! Does anyone know which store in PH sells this phone? :-)

  16. the specs seems fair. is the touchscreen capacitive or resisitive?

  17. The phone runs 2.3 version with 3.5in HVGA Capacitive Multi-Touchscreen. It has built-in Android Market to download tons of apps. It also supports flash player. The phone also has a built-in Portable WLAN Hotspot which can share internet connection up to 5 wireless devices. Cool!

  19. @ erikku its available @ cmk cellphones in west ave.

  20. ah ok SALAMAT po XD

  21. Php7,990 tlga price neto?

  22. Php7,990 tlga price neto kht sa CMK?

  23. hi sir, can you comment on the picure quality

  24. add a little more, and u can get an xperia mini for 9k with specs that are miles ahead of this.

  25. yes it will play flash embedded sites

  26. hi guys, i just bought the lenovo A60 phone and it’s really nice. unfortunately, i can’t install apk in it, it won’t even connect and register in the market, can anyone help me? pretty please. Thanks!

  27. poor processor usually found in knock-off chinese mobile phones.

  28. hi. i’ve also got one. my problem is, it does not have a calendar app. or, i cant see it. that is why even if i install other apk, it doesnt install.
also, android market cant be installed? since maybe china has banned google or something like that. thats why there is no gmail, android market, etc.

  29. Hi! I am using one right now for days now and it’s working good and fast for me. We all know that the specs aren’t that good but hey…it’s only 7999.00 for a dual sim android phone. I installed my usual applications like kindle, fring, viber, papaya farm and its working ok for me. I was looking for a dual sim android for awhile and i saw a cherry mobile dual android for Php 9999.00 which is more expensive than this one i got, i checked the review and specs and i have found out that there were lots of people dissatisfied with it. Good thing i saw this lenovo A60 or else i would have regretted the day i bought that cherry mobile.

  30. can anyone help me to suggest whats the best dual sim phone (i just need it badly) in the market (available here in metro manila) right now, budget from 7k to 20k. thnk you so much guys

  31. hi gaby, what app market are you using? thanks. ung akin ayaw ng android market e.

  33. Battery life is good too! Ginamit ko yung 3g nya whole day and wifi from time to time then chat sa viber battery life is really ok.

  34. Hey guys…thanks these infos….am planning to buy one that`s why im looking these kind of information…

  36. hey guys i got one now… can anybody knows were to buy screen guard for this phone? thanx…

  37. Hi @Josh i don’t exactly know what these people are saying, i am using both samsung galaxy phones;P1000 and P9000, and the UI almost looks just the same. Though some settings were made different but still it works exactly the same, of course specification wise…samsung is better. Thats where some of the applications come in. Some are compatible some are not, all because i think of the processor or the make of the phone. Tho most of the applications i installed like papaya, viber, fring, pingchat, mau mau works on the phone. I installed also an application to change its UI and it works and looks ok. So i think some of those who are saying that it looks like China phone maybe just maybe they didnt really purchase and never tried the product. I say its perfectly fine for me…well if they come up with a five inch screen dual sim phone then i would certainly go for that than this. :) Plus lenovo are also makers of laptops and pc’s! And i have read they’re one on the top list in making good computers. Up to you though if you want to buy it or not or just go for samsung or lg or any make of android phone.

  38. Hey just wanna ask if you can use the qwerty for texting without having to turn the phone around (horizontally)? Like how iphones keyboards are :) thanks

  39. Eto pa link ng lenovo a60: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/100919/211088696-504698545/Lenovo-A60-3G-WCDMA-GSM-Dual-Sim-Quad-band-Android-2-3-Wifi-GPS-SmartPhone-with.html So it shows na lenovo a60 is from lenovo and cherry mobile phone: http://tv.com.ph/buzz/cherry+mobile.html has their own design and hard ware specifications. Point is that marami diversities ang mga android phones na ito especially kung mga China manufactured or made phones kasi alam natin lahat na pwede nila ikopya and design at capabilities ng kung ano mang brand ng phones, gadgets, etc.By the way kung nagustuhan nyo lenovo a60 meron din sila upgraded version nito which is lenovo p70: http://www.etotalk.com/lenovo-p70-3g-wcdma-dual-sim-android-23-mt6573_p2718.html at lenovo lephone: http://www.etotalk.com/lenovo-lephone-mini-a1-32abo-3g-wcdma-dual-sim-android-23-msm7227t_p2829.html at ang review nito is: http://techably.com/2011/12/lenovo-lephone-s760-android-phone-features-specifications/ at eto pa ang link of list of released lenovo brand phones: http://askhideki.com/tag/lenovo/ So my point is ang cherry mobile has their own list of different android mobile phones while lenovo has their own as well. so nasa inyo na which brand to buy since nag post na ako ng lists of specifications and brands kayo ng mamili which one to choose. Like yung sinabi ko before of course kung gusto nyo tried and tested phones go for the high end branded phones like HTC, Samsung, LG, Sonyericcson and so on and so forth. Any questions mention nyo nalang ako sa Twitter.

  40. Hi @kangkongcornick Thank you sa help! :) Binasa ko kahapon yung review nung link na binigay ni @papichulo169 it seems like di nya binasa maigi ang specification at lalo na yung forum. wala sa kanila nag sabi ang spice at cherry mobile ay iisa actually mukhang yung “spice” ay parang cherry mobile or torque or myphone sa ibang country di ko lang sure kung saan pero ang currency nila is “RS” anyway na mention din dito sa review ang lenovo at sinasabi na kinopya ng spice ang design ng lenovo a60 at na mention din na china made ang phones ng spice or something to that effect. Ang point ko lang @papichulo169 di ako nag hahard sell or nagpopromote ng phone. sinasabi ko lang ang naexperience ko sa lenovo at tinutulungan ko lang mag decide ang mga purchasers. like sa sinabi ni @kangkongcornick meron sya stellar at lenovo and it seems ang cherry is laggy tulad ng sa orbit na nabasa ko before ko binili ang lenovo a60. with this information it would help purchasers kung ano ang dapat nila bilhin. andito lang tayo para mag guide at di manira o magmagaling. Once again @papichulo169 wala nag mamagaling dito lahat dito ay nagsasabi ng experiences nila sa phone na binili nila at tinutulungan ang mga buyers kung ano dapat ang para dapat sa kanila like sa sinabi ni @kangkongcornick: kung cherry mobile ang gusto mo then dun ka. which is true! wala ako sinabi na pangit ang cherry mobile at wag kayo bumili. and most of all basahin mo mabuit yung pinost mo na link kasi wala talag dun ang aka cherry mobile na sinasabi mo. sigure in design meron sa iba sa listahan pero like what i said yung spice na yan eh mukhang china phones na binebenta sa ibang country din under the guise of spice nga lang. anyway @kangkongcornick check mo pala isang product ng lenovo na lefone at p70 maganda din specs nya tapos maglalabas daw sila ng 5inch na phoneblet parang galaxy note ng samsung….parang gusto ko din yun!
    …Merry Xmas! hehehe :)

soon to be released daw atleast mas cheaper kesa sa galaxy note ng samsung tried and tested naman na ang lenovo so i think i might go for that 5 inch na phoneblet

So far yung lenovo ko di pa masyado.

  44. Hi, tulong naman oh :) just got my a60 kahapon, ok naman lahat exept sa apps niya, di nagkokonek sa net pag app gamit ko ( facebook app tsaka yung iba pa) pero pag browser gamit ko kokonek naman…. it must be just a setting lang siguro sino makakatulong?? thanks a lot!

  45. Hi @blue

  47. pwede bang iupgrade ang os nito into newer versions of android? my wife bought a unit and i find it awesome. would want to upgrade to a newer version of android though, planning to buy one for my self.

  48. Lenovo a60 seems to be a decent phone for just 7-8k but i choose LG Optimus One instead. This is my first Android. I kinda suspect the support for Lenovo phone. LG though not great is good enough. The way Lenovo customized the UI is too much which made me go for LG. I hate Samsung cheapo droids, the screen is so awful.

  52. Yes pre installed na lahat me mga updates of course so need mo wifi or mobile connection. Of course di ito yung high end phone nakita mo naman specs nya so expect mo some apps di mag work kasi need nya bigger memory or higher hardware specs so far naman me mga apps ako na download like games ng papaya na ok sa phone ko at yung messengers like ebuddy xms whatsapp ay ok din.

  53. meron bang flash ung camera? tnx

  54. with my lenovo a60, medyo dissatisfied ako sa sms kasi far sighted ako at hirap basahin yung font size na ang background pa e bright blue at gold, then i downloaded GOsms which is customable nga lang laggy, siguro lahat ng apps ng “GO” kasi gumamit din ako ng GOcontacts at ganun din halos 10seconds bago magbukas…then yung pre-installed gallery app ko laging nagha-hang…any suggestions what i could do guys?

  55. can i upgrade the android OS of this phone? i hope this will be compatible with the upcoming android OS Ice Cream Sandwich 2.4…

Im planning to buy one of A60 or the L70.i just need to know if OS can be updated.Ive checked on the settings > about phone : there is no option for software update…does it need to be connected to pc to update it, not over the air?

  57. do you have accessories already for Lenovo A60?

  58. Ask ko lang pwede bang ma download ang facebook app and twitter?ok ba talaga ang A60…nagbabalak kc me bumili…thanks…

Tnx

  60. i just checked that my lenovo a60 is android version 2.3.5…i dont know if its been upgraded by its first owner[since i just bought it 2nd hand] or its stock version, but its so slow and i was hoping if the upgrading is to blame for this, hence im thinking of bringing it back to its factory settings, but will it also return to its original lower android version, and eventually make it fast again?help please…

  61. I think that A60 does not have an android market access. It what i saw in the video review of colonel in youtube. Now i was second guessing in buying this phone. if it really has an android market access i will buy it next week so can someone send me a reply regarding in this matter.heres my e-mail ginbrix****@****.***

  62. I almost believed that rumor and it made me look like a dumbass in the store. “Sabi sa ibang reviews hindi daw maka access sa android market? Derp.” The salesladies gave me bewildered looks.

It can definitely access the android market. Heck, I’ve downloaded almost 50 games ever since I got my a60.

  63. hi tim. san ba pede mka bile ng lenovo a60? balak q kase bumele saka may mga nbsa akong feeds na may prob raw sa sms. eto oh..

The Lenovo seems to have a problem with SMS. I have encountered problems where you can’t send text messages and it’s replicated across other A60 models. I’ve asked Lenovo for help but they haven’t responded.

The only issue on my a60 is that it goes berserk when charging. As in ibang function ang nagrerespond kapag pinindot mo ang isang button. Some users also experienced this. Sayang lang sa akin at sa Davao ko pa binili at nasa Lanao del Norte ako, di pwedeng pa replace.

  65. I bought my Lenovo A60 only last Sunday for only P7,090. My comments for my unit are – the RAM is only 202 MB; there are times that when I move from homescreen to application list it takes 10 seconds to show the list from full black color, in my solution I removed some applications that I frequently saw in “Running Applications in RAM Used” like Battery Saver application and now maintaining minimum of 30MB RAM; until now there’s no jelly / protector case available in the market.
What is good here – longer battery life compared to other low cost phone; Most of the applications are installed in SD with the help of Apps 2 SD unlike in my previous Samsung Galaxy Y, most of the downloaded apps went to internal.

  66. @Emil: Try Zeam Launcher. It’s noticeably faster than any other launchers, including the stock launcher. I have 130 apps on my app drawer (i.e. 9 windows) yet they load instantly when I access them from home screen.

  67. Before I bought this unit, I thought the RAM is 256MB based on what I’ve read in different websites.
There’s only 1 service center in Phils which is in Chino Roces, Makati.

  68. Search symbianize for it’s Lenovo a60 thread. May custom rom dun na stable, responsive, upgraded cam to 8mp and face detection.

  69. Tim, thanks for your suggestion of Zeam Launcher, it really improves.
Does anybody here encounter that during wall charging, the keyboard goes abnormal like When I pressed the backspace, instead of erasing the letter, it shows “p” or “o”?

  70. @Emil – That’s the issue with my a60 too. It goes berserk whenever I’m charging. The Lenovo page on facebook told me to call customer support. Here’s the number: (02)8365855

I haven’t called yet. I’m assuming that they’ll ask me to send over my unit, something I don’t want to do. My solution to this is to buy an extra battery and use a universal charger. So I can use the phone while charging. And conveniently, extra battery when travelling.

  71. Tim, today is the 7th day of my new unit so I have still option to return for replacement my unit. When I called this morning the Service Center, he said that even his personal unit encounters the same abnormality. Although in my case, not all charging have experienced this problem. In your case, kahit saan ka nagchacharge, experience mo ‘to?

  72. Better have it replaced since you’re still within warranty. I wasn’t able to have mine replaced since I bought it from Davao the day I was travelling back to CDO.

Come to think of it, di pa ako nakapag charge anywhere else except dito sa bahay. Wala ba silang sinabing probable cause ng problem? It’s nice of them to admit na sila mismo naeexperience yun. Now the problem is how to fix it. :-p

  73. Using the Lenovo A60 for three months very disappointing. Experienced a whole lot of problems and couldn’t trust my phone anymore. Buti na lang nakapagsave na for a new phone :(

  74. EUREKA GUYS!!!!!my problem about the need for speed has just been solved due to ZEAM LAUNCHER..MY LENOVO A60 is now fast…now to you guys out there who are having 2nd thoughts on buying this android phone…just read the posts here just like I did and now I really could say this phone actually works for me….

  75. Sir, I have read in tablet forums that the touchscreen goes crazy during charging when there is an issue with the charging cable.

In short, during the charging your unit is effectively ‘grounded’. Not sure how it was fixed, but you may take a look at it. Your phone’s problem might be the same.

  76. guys.meron nto sa sta lucia mall.3 ln dw.nbli q ung isa so 2 nlng ntira.ahha.ang lupit tsung.d kau mag ccc.7990 ln.daming silbi pre.advertiser po aq.at ito an gngmit q pag post.

try niu yn launcher na spb shell.ahha npkaganda.kakaiba.

  77. I appreciate all the reviews and comments on this site, very informative.

Although i just would like to ask if A60 does have DUAL SIM STANDBY? –
Let’s say you are w/ smart and globe. If someone calls your smart sim, will it still received the call even if you are using globe that time???

  78. here i am again with another problem…my lenovo a60 just stopped connecting to wifi…i tried the simple fixes like turning the unit off-removing and reinserting the battery-turning the unit on…etc but to no avail…i tried turning off apps that might be killing or hindering my wifi connectivity but still no use…is there a code that can be typed that could reset the configuration of the wifi connection in our brand[lenovo] like in Samsung’s *#*#526#*#* code to reset its wifi connectivity…help please….thanks!!!

  79. Hi,

Thanks.

  80. Does anybody encounter here for A60 that even you press the power button for temporarily display off but still later on it will display on? pls help me how to resolve this.

  81. where can i buy this phone. i’m near greenhills.dunno kng mayroon sa vmall

  82. I have read so many articles or reviews on the topic of the
blogger lovers except this piece of writing is truly a nice paragraph,
    keep it up.
