LG Philippines silently released a new variant in their Optimus Android series of smartphones in the local market. Announced last September 14, the LG Optimus One is now available in stores with a suggested retail price of Php12,990.
The Optimus One is among the very few handsets to have Froyo 2.2 pre-installed straight out of the box.

If you think the Php12,990 is not that very attractive, how about a 50% discount to bring it down to just Php6,495? The blast off sale will happen on November 13 and will be offered in all LG Concept Stores in the malls (SM Megamall, SM North EDSA Annex, SM Cebu, and Gaisano Davao).
Here’s the catch — this one-day sale will also happen in just a one-hour window so you need to be there when the clock strikes on top of the hour. Will post more details when I get more info from LG Philippines.

I bought this phone for P12,900. It’s worth it, you can’t ask for more because it is powered by the latest Android 2.2 Froyo though it’s not the 10.1 flash like the other powerful Droid phone offered, so you can’t play facebook games, but the price worth it. It’s still a smart phone with a very cheap price. I maximized it’s usage by downloading “Free” Apps in Android Market. It has NDrive software with it, it’s a GPS Navigation software which you can download the Philippine Road Map. I’m not sure if it’s just a free trial but still waiting for 7 days just to confirm that it’s not. This navigation software doesn’t need an Internet connection for it to work (except for the initial set-up and upgrades). The Augmented Reality stuff, Google Goggles app are awesome. Too bad out Network Providers can’t maximize its usage. Good things there’s wi-fi hot spot everywhere.
In short, it’s still Froyo w/o 10.1 flash in cheaper price compared with Galaxy S and HTC Desire. Good for beginner Droid Phone user.

Im not from LG and I have this phone. nabili ko nung Oct31 pa @12,990. pinili ko to over HTC wildfire which has only 528mhz and 240 x 320 Qvga resolution, tpos ang mahal mahal pa. bago pa maganap ang sale nag popost na ko dito.
ok naman yung phone. problema ko lng ngayon is may 1 dead pixel ako. Pero di nman masyado halata kasi sobrang liit.sir yuga covered ba yun ng warranty? nag search ako sa net kelangan 5-10 dead pixel ung requirement para replacement na.(HTC brand). Tnx peace!

Bago ang lahat, nais ko lang malaman ng buong sambayanan na isa rin ako sa mga pumila during the sale. pero guess what, sumuko ako sa pila kasi alam kong di na kaya ng oras. just looking at it, ang haba ng pila for me to make it.
Common sense lang po yung pinairal ko since nakalagay naman sa promo na 2PM-3PM lang ang time range na pwede ma-avail yung promo. At alam kong I will not able to make it na. So I give up.
Ang payo ko po sa inyo, just move on na lang. Marami pa mangyayaring sale gaya nito. Kung di tayo pinalad na makakuha sa 50% sale ng LG sa very decent phone na optimus one, dapat positive tayo na may other chance pa.
Yung iba kasi dito pansin ko lang galit na galit to the point na ibo-boycott na raw ang LG products and everything. We can’t deny the fact na maganda talaga ang LG OPTIMUS ONE, good reviews all over the net. Nakita ko ang benchmark niya at malayong mas okay siya sa HTC, MotoDroid, SExperia.
I’m still going to buy this phone. Pero titignan ko pa kung magsi-sale sila ngayong december.

From that 1hr, they’ve only accommodated like less than 20? it took almost 20 mins for 3 people to buy. THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE MADE “PROMOS” WHEREIN THEY’RE NOT ACTUALLY PLANNING ON SELLING! Nokia sold over a hundred of phones with 2hrs because of their systematic way. life’s good huh?

here’s why lg will never be as popular as nokia. apparently the promo was for the staff and big bosses only. that’s why unlike nokia they did not give out numbers for those who are in line. this is so that when the ‘happy hour’ begins they can easily sneak in their people to fall in line for them. case in point, one of the managers in megamall was able to buy 2 units (her people should be at around 50th of the line) whereas the 4th guy is still lining up outside. of course they milked the event for all it’s worth. one of their staffs goes around the line to inform them that they should wait in line because they will be served. life’s good, ain’t it?

we were at the megamall from 8am….waited till the opening of doors…..since i am the first in the line, we ran….i missed the escalator side, so 4 more guys were able to go ahead of me. but it was okay….until I arrived to find out that a group of people were let in earlier ahead of us (they were let in by the guard). Only a hundred people away at first, but we’re not satisfied, knowing that there is only one cashier, and all freakin’ crap of people who wouldn’t give number unlike the nokia. As expected, we were left out to be about 800th when 2pm came….
we were telling the staff that they should at least give number or give the cutoff already instead of making publicity over people who are going to be WASTING their time over some stupid crap of sellers.
We were discussing computations of estimated people they were going to be able to capacitate but the damn staffs just want a lot of people crowding around. we’ve heard enough excuses, LG!

been to gmall davao to see how my friends who went for the promo were doing. at the end of the 1-hour period, only less than 50 units were sold (around 41 IIRC). it was a very frustrating experience for my friends considering they were already in line when the mall opened. kupad talaga ng processing ng LG. nokia, on the other hand, was organized despite having only a few customer.
LG might have gained publicity on this sale but it sure isn’t positive as it left a lot of angry customers.
why they lets that many people line up and wait if they know they can’t accommodate them,

BUT, the phone is fantastic! it’s surprisingly responsive. UI is great.I haven’t tried playing games but I think 256K resolution is fine. Touchscreen is superb as well! I like this as much as my iPhone. :)

Guys lets do the math sa promo na ito, lets assume that LG can release a phone every 30 seconds, in 1 hr there is only 3600 seconds so that 3600/30 = 120. So only 120 phones will be given out at 50% off. Lets just say they are really fast, 1 phone every 15 seconds, thats still only 240 phones. So chances are a lot of people will go home disappointed. If you are at the back of the line right now and is really desperate to get an Optimus One and is willing to pay the regular price, better leave the line immediately and buy the phone at LG at the regular price before they run out of stock.
I was in Megamall at around 10:30AM and was surprised that the line to the promo is already on the floor below, grabe ang dami, sobra! I spoke with an LG sales lady and I told her I’m willing to line up even the whole day if you can guarantee that I’l get served when it’s my turn already, unfortunately she can’t make one, I told her that there’s no way you can serve a hundred even if you have 8 cashiers in an hour.
Wish ko lang na ulitin nila ulit yun event and make it half day instead of the ridiculous one hour, libre naman mangarap :D

People who weren’t able to line up are complaining already.. Although diskartehan lang talaga labanan dito, I can still feel their frustration. One gripe is LG advertised this promo so much, they can’t even handle or accommodate the people. SM guards and even the janitors are used to organize the event (there are bouncers though). I can smell riot later LOL. I guess I’m just lucky to be on the top 30.
There are probably around 1000 people in line already. Nokia is no different either.

There are about 1,000++ people in here already. When the gate opened at 10am, people came rushing in, everyone’s running. It was a crazy scene.. The first 50 people are lined in near the LG Concept Store. While the other hundred are lined all the way up to the escalator area.
Nokia on the other hand, gave numbers so people can go out of the line and can just go back before 1pm. But some are still lined in though.

I think it’s because in the video, that was the first time the phone’s been activated.
Also, if you noticed in the video, the Orange label also appeared (which I think is a carrier in the UK), so probably they also added bloatware in there to slow things down.

What’s not clear to me is, on their Facebook page, they said they will have enough units to sell within the one hour time frame. While some of the readers here says they have talked to someone working at a participating concept store, and told them they will only sell 50 units.

After reviewing the exemptions from permit requirements (DTI), in which number 5 states:
5. In store promotions, such as, but not limited to price reduction promotions, discount sales and premium-in pack in which no advertisements are made on such sales promotion campaigns.
Then I guess swak sa banga ang promo na to wherein they won’t need to have a permit or would ever require supervision from a DTI rep. :)

since this is a promo, it should be under DTI supervision,
so the rule will be set properly and announced properly without taking advantage of interested party that LG might divert this into an hidden advertisement.
Am sure LG would also wants to clear up how this promo works so they won’t be blamed by interested consumers,

For me, I want it but I won’t go unless there is a clear scheme on how to avail the promo so no time & effort will be wasted.

I hope this is not another media mileage trick. Of course it will be a terrible inconvenience for some people just to get to this few specific mall to buy this phone and finds out they ran out of stock immediately on the hour of the promo. I also doubt if the time even gets announced at all here. I believe LG won’t announce it in advance because they want more people to converge at their concept stores on that day for media to feast on…

Froyo 2.2 isn’t even available on HTC Desire. Now with Legend, even it has same processor, I believe mas mataas ang RAM ng LG cause Legend only has 384 MB.

after checking the specs of htc wildfire again and comparing it to lg optimus one…lg optimus one have the better specs… better processor, screen resolution, ram and battery life! kahit di 50% off toh eto na talaga bibilhin ko! hehe

i just got an htc legend 2 days ago then i see this. the difference between the two is the amoled screen of the htc vs the tft screen of this one as well as the camera (3.15mp for this, 5mp for legend). but aside from that, almost the same specs! and it comes with froyo too! very tempting.
