Didn’t know there was such a thing as the CES Innovation Awards and turns out the LG Dare took the prize home in the wireless handset category.

We won’t be seeing any LG VX9700 Dare here in the Philippines since it’s locked with Verizon (around June of this year) and runs on a CDMA network.
The LG Dare is a 3″ (400×240 pixel) touchscreen phone with a 3.2MP auto-focus camera featuring a Schneider-Kreuznach lens. It’s 3G capability is for EV-DO and Bluetooth with A2DP.
That’s pretty much all that it has, which brings me to wonder how it won this award despite the plethora of other contenders.
While Samsung also got a number of honorees (including the Samsung Instinct), Nokia and Sony Ericsson are conspicuously absent on the list. Turns out the judging committee only considered carrier-exclusive mobile phones which leaves a lot of units out of the list.
Next year’s Consumer Electronics Show will be on January 8 to 11, 2009.

I think this phone was featured just this morning at Unang Hirit morning show
