The MediaTek Helio P22 is a mid-range chipset built using the TSMC 12nm FinFET technology. It has octa-core Arm Cortex A53 processors clocked at 2.0GHz, IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU, and Edge AI enhancements powered by MediaTek NeuroPilot. It supports dual camera setups up to 13+8MP with EIS and Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) engine, 20:9 HD+ (1600 x 720) displays, Face Unlock, dual 4G SIM support with VoLTE/ViLTE, and Bluetooth 5.0.
“With support for high-quality dual camera photography, AI enhancements, and incredible power efficiency, the Helio P22 sets a new bar for accessibility to premium features. We expect continued device maker wins and consumer growth in this segment with MediaTek’s new Helio P22 chipset,” said TL Lee, General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communication business unit.
The Helio P22 is in volume production now and is expected to be available in consumer devices by the end of Q2 2018.

It only supports HD+ resolution. Some mid range phones are equipped with FHD+ powered by other SoCs. This will be better off at entry and lower mid-ranged phones. Expect local companies to out phones equipped by this SoC.
