Mocha Uson Blog now has a mobile app

Listen to article

Communications’ Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson’s famed “Mocha Uson Blog” has now an Android application in the Google Play Store with 10,000 installs as of writing. Mocha Uson and her blog is controversial for spreading fake news, swaying public opinions, and promoting individualistic instead of rational political discourse about the government.

In this application, users can post text, images, or even videos. It also features Mocha TV, DDS Podcast, OFW Help and more. The reviews are almost all positive with a 4.7 rating. Android users can download the application for free in the Google Play Store.

One of my IT colleagues before said that this app contains spyware. Spyware is a software that aims to gather information about a person or organization without their knowledge and use it without the consumer’s consent, or assert control over a device withouth the consumer’s knowledge. Install at your own risk.

I just visited Play store and looked at the permissions. Before you download this app, look at the permissions. It is asking for the following:

Read, modify and delete files on your device memory and memory card
Know your location
Take pictures and videos
receive data from Internet
view network connections
full network access
run at startup
control vibration
prevent device from sleeping
read Google service configuration

Question is, why does the app need those permissions specially access to your memory cards, location and control of your device? So, pag nag download ka ng app na yan, pwede na nyang ma-control ang device mo. It’s easy to uninstall but the mere fact that the app is invading our privacy, I advice NOT to install this app. Install at your own risk.

Some apps need to write on memory and NOT DELETE FILES on memory. Nakakaduda ang action ni Ms Mocha.

It’s more of a social app and I can say that there’s nothing wrong with the permissions above. You can always deny the app’s permission at runtime anyway.

Sa dami ng mga taong galit kay Mocha dahil sa kanyang mga fake news and one sided views, mas madali na ngayon ang mga Pinoy batikusin ang kanyang mga sinulat at isusulat. She should NOT make excuses for her unverified reports (which turns out to be fake reports) and one sided views. As a blogger, she should not take sides. Neutral lang siya dapat. Hindi nya ata alam ang journalists etiquette.
