Nokia C5 officially released in the Philippines

Listen to article

Nokia Philippines formally announced the availability of the Nokia C5 in the country. This candybar handset from Nokia is powered by Symbian S60 and a capable ARM 11 600MHz processor.

Nokia C5 specs:
2.2″ display @ 240×320 pixels
ARM 11 600MHz processor
HSDPA 10.2 Mbps, HSUPA 2 Mbps
50MB storage, 128MB RAM
up to 16GB via microSD (2GB included)
3.15MP camera w/ LED flash
Bluetooth 2.0 w/A2DP
FM Radio with RDS
GPS with a-GPS
Symbian OS v9.3, Series 60 rel. 3.2

As I mentioned in a previous entry, the Nokia C5 might be positioned as an entry-level smartphone but the lack of WiFi connectivity seemed puzzling. Suggested retail price of the Nokia C5 is Php8,450 and is available in white and grey.

Sa sobrang stealth nung pag launch ng c5 5mp (256 mb ram, 512mb rom, 600mhz), kahit si yuga di na feature iyon. Getting it despite being ancient. It will be the last of its breed of keypad phones.

Dogbitemuh,
It does not matter what we really think how world population should be controlled. It will be controlled in Nature’s own way, should we ourselves decide, moraly, or for religious reasons, we don’t want to have any part in attempting to organise such a thing ourselves.
By nature’s own way, I include the inevitable; war, plague, dramatic food and water shortage, and a number of other reasons such as energy depleaton, global warming, shortage of arable land and living space generally, all being caused by population explosion on a finite Earth.
The site: Foundation.bw and http has a lot written about the subject. One Heading is
On War and Peace Another The Party’s Over’
There are several headings dealing with Population Growth .
These a big issues, all of them, and we humans seem to have so many other less important issues on our minds just now.
Perhaps it is all just the way the Earth is, and we can’t blame ourselves too much about that, or our inborn avarise and greed ?

c5 is a good phone, nice and functionable, had it since september last year, a few months after its released in the market,. Very fast internet connection,., also the 3G..over a year now and still go0d as new, even the battery.. But if i would have a touch screen phone, C7 is the best..,

I have been seeking this info for a long time. Almost 2 hours of online finding, fortunately I saw it in your website. I wonder why Alexa never show this sort of useful websites in the top of the list. Generally the top search engine results are full of garbages. Maybe it is time to change to other search engine.

choosing between Nokia C3 and Nokia C5, i’d rather choose Nokia C5.. More features. Handy. Here in Cagayan de oro, i’ve experienced great Internet browsing with the 3G. I’m using GLOBE SIM. REALLY COOL !! IT’S ALL FREE.

Put this in the C3’s body in addition to its features and the upgrade makes more sense. The C3 has WiFi but no 3g and you’d think an upgrade to that will have both but NO. Nokia makes choosing between their phones a chore.

@manong: considering the price of the samsung i5500, which has a larger screen, runs android 2.1 and has wifi, is estimated to be around 9K, this “entry-level” phone is really pretty expensive.

why the need for wi-fi on this phone? i wonder people do not comment that the screen is too small and it does not have touchscreen.. or android os!

geez! what do u expect from an entry-level “phone”?

nice design… and it has all the features i need, specially 3G/HSDPA. wi-fi isn’t a deal-breaker for me. it’ll just eat up precious battery life. and if i browse/surf with it, my eyes would probably fall off from too much squinting. i’d rather use it as a modem for my netbook/laptop. but that’s just me. ;-)

With a small screen size in this entry-level smartphone, I personally think there’s no need for Wifi, otherwise the price will just get higher.

Good point there, @abeolandres! The Nokia C5 might be one of the best entry-level Smartphones that are under the 10k price. It needs a WiFi.
