Nokia has just posted a press release stating that the Meego-powered Nokia N9 has started shipping to stores and customers who pre-ordered it. While the shipments does not yet include the Philippines, we’re hoping it will be a matter of weeks (if not a month) before we’d see the N9 hitting local stores.
We got a good look at the Nokia N9 back in June during its announcement in Singapore. See our coverage here.

Sabana says:
Too expensive x_x When will they learn that cheaper is the way to go? :(
dan_md says:
wow, can’t wait to demo the product when it hits the stores. :) now if it only came in Android flavor…
JKisaragi says:
Wouldn’t mind the MeeGo experience. Just not that ecstatic about the asking price.
Anyhow, I’ll just wait at least three months after its release. :)
Boffill says:
Everything seems fine with the specs except for MeeGo. I think it’d be better if its Symbian Anna or Belle.
Chubachuchu says:
It’s too darn expensive. I hope this phone will be a huge hit – I have high hopes on this one.
I’ll just wait until there will be some users’ feedback. I am not liking Android anymore; it’s so buggy. :(
irv says:
i thought windows phone 7 is the future for Nokia. what is this phone good for then, a piece of nostalgia?
Benchmark says:
Nokia, Apple, RIM…”Let’s get it on!” The battle begins this October! Hehehehe
San yung sa Samsung?! S2 pa din ba? Or may S3 na????
Benchmark says:
Test post….spam daw ako?! hala
Anyway the battle begins this October!
Nokia, RIM and Apple…teka?! San ang Samsung?
el amigo says:
some people are overlooking the fact it can run android apps (http://liliputing.com/2011/09/openmobile-acl-lets-android-apps-run-on-meego.html)
what’s more? an android mod will come by, or whatever linux mobile OS that may emerge soon, this device is pretty costumizable, did I mention that nokia will be supporting this baby until 2016? kung ako tatanongin sulit na yan.
Val says:
Is it true that the N9 is going to be the last Meego-powered phone from Nokia? Are they going to be an all-Windows Phone on their next handsets?
Shakey says:
Knowing Nokia, prices will go down after a few months. Besides, 28K is the SRP, street prices might be lower.
JP says:
The N9’s euro price is inclusive of VAT, so I think prices will be lower when the device hits our shores.
Rivs says:
Bad idea to buy this just days before iPhone 5 announcement..just sayin..
Some dude says:
I’ve tried the device before (it’s in my line of work, actually). IMHO it may be worth the 28k (although I’d really want it to be lower).
Everything’s really buttery smooth, although the possible lack of apps (if it doesn’t go well) makes me worry and well, IMHO as well it’s a minus point for me.
Also, @Val it has been said in several tech sites. Well, more like they’re really vague about Meego/N9’s future but they’re gonna push through with it. Who knows, if it sells Nokia may like, avoid going the WebOS route and sell just as well, if not even better than the incoming Sea Ray and stuff.
Esteban Trabaho says:
I actually wish Nokia continued Meego development like what Samsung’s doing with Bada, instead of just giving its whole self to Ballmer’s crew.
The N9’s a beautiful device, but it’s the last of its breed.
jdGONEMAD says:
I’d go for IPhone instead with that price range.
Ishi says:
With that kind of price, I’d rather go for a secondhand iPhone 3GS plus a Samsung Galaxy S.
IMHO, people will go for Android / iOS this season.
What happened to E7? N900?
JamesErik says:
I love Samsung now!
Mob Hatter says:
From the title, it conveys the idea that it’s already shipping to the Philippines. :) Anyway, will it definitely/officially ship here?

Away-away na naman ang mga fanboys. Tsk, when will they ever learn.
People have the right to choose which device/ OS suits their needs. If you have the money to burn and you like the gadget you’re buying then go for it sunshine!
[email protected] says:
the o.s. is maemo/meego, developers platform on apps will be based on QT so this phone is not dead, lots of QT apps on the nokia store
jonaflormicfren says:
Wow, this is cool and great, I like it..
Meltemi says:
The Nokia N9 is the first phone in the world to not care about the OS. Some people argue that the N9 is Meego but the real OS is Harmattan. It does not really matter folks. You see, Nokia’s user interface will be universal in all products as evidenced by Atasahaari and Elop’s hints. Nokia will stick to Swipe Qt. No matter what the OS is, be it Symbian Anna, Belle, Rama or Harmattan or Windows Phone, the UI will be Swipe Qt. Get? There is a huge hush hush project in Nokia now coding the essential apps to Qt as this will be channeled down to the feature phones via the Meltemi variant of Nokia’s Linux OS. Kasi nga proof eto na Nokia is ready to stick with Qt and Swipe.
So there. Just use another perspective when choosing a phone. OS is the sub-layer, Qt is the UI. So just see the Nokia N9 as the flagship Swipe Qt phone. 33k for 64 gb is really reasonable. Have you ever heard that the iPhone is selling at 35k for 16gb?
Nokia has the simplest UI. Integrated apps. No need to go to twitter, fb, email or sms separately. They are all summarised in the events view. No need to buy a wifi hotspot as Nokia N9 is one. The Nokia N9 browser is faster than the desktop version of google chrome and firefox (I think). If your really have the moolah for this, this i think is a lot better that any flagship phone out there. A lot better than my Galaxy S 2.
I have to agree. As much I love my Android, it gets really buggy. I have this on pre-order. I am thinking of this as my everyday phone and putting my SGS2 on sale sa greenhills.
Sixel says:
How is android “buggy” exactly? Give me a detailed explanation.
tfnow02 says:
Wow! Haaayyyy…
Louie says:
Hi Sir Yuga:
Is it true that N9 is not anymore coming to the Philippines because of lack of product codes???
I saw this posted on Facebook by the Nokia N8 Philippine User page. Please confirm…
This is such a disapointment knowing that Meego Harmattan looks like a very promising OS even though Meego is already dead.
jalapenio says:
Like many, I’ve been keeping tabs on the progress of the N9. Today, I dropped by at Nokia MOA and asked the sales rep regarding the lauch of Nokia N9 in the Philippines. As it turns out, we all have to wait until January of next year. This is because of the “market by market” approach of the sale of N9.
It’s quite disappointing since all of our neighbours in SEA are getting it before the year ends.
Skye03 says:
No matter what other people would say with this phone and it’s platform, I really fell in love with just how fast it is on that sexy hardware, even though it has older internals compared to iPhone/android devices, pero just look at that, ang bilis ang intuitive grabe. Tsaka for sure someone out there would port android apps since it’s linux based din naman ;) . And Tizen is also being develop so I think it’s not doomed after all ayt?
Queency says:
still waiting for this phone. Uh!
ronald says:
I bought mine yesterday in sm city annex bldg. I got the white 64GB for P27,700.
