Nokia unveils N82

Nokia has just launched a new mobile phone – the Nokia N82. Got wind of the virtual launch (around 8PM last night) a couple of days ago from Nokia Philippines but was unable to blog about it due to NDA. Now that it’s officially out, here are the specs:

Nokia N82

  • HSDPA, UMTS, GSM
  • 100MB internal memory
  • microSD card (hotswappable up to 4GB)
  • 2.4″ LCD QVGA (240 x 320 pixels) TFT color display with up to 16.7 million colors
  • S60 3rd edition
  • 5 MP (2592 x 1944 pixels) camera (6x optical, 20x digital zoom)
  • front camera, CIF (352 x 288 pixels) sensor for video telephony
  • Carl Zeiss Optics: Tessarâ„¢ lens
  • Xenon flash
  • MPEG-4 VGA video capture of up to 30 fps (MPEG-4, H.264/AVC, H.263/3GPP, RealVideo 8/9/10)
  • Direct connection to TV via TV-out or wireless LAN/UPnP
  • Stereo FM, Bluetooth
  • Global Positioning System (A-GPS)
  • WLAN (802.11 b/g) and UPnP
  • 3.5 mm stereo headphone plug (Nokia AV Connector) and TV out support (PAL/NTSC)

Now that’s a feature-packed phone. IMO, a much better replacement to the recent N95. Too bad I already got a new Nokia phone. It’s a cheaper HSDPA phone — Nokia N6120. Will review this one soon.

Awesome new phone from Nokia. Reminds me a lot about the upcoming Sony Ericsson K850, which I am saving up on, again. :P

Hm, Nokia N95 still better coz of the double-sliding mechanism and dedicated media keys. This one is low on internal memory. It looks like a transitional device, really. The only difference is the Xenon flash. Not that much cheaper. remember, the N95 is really cheap here in the Philippines.

    I’m interested.

The N95 is too big for me.

Android won’t be out til second half 2008 – and it will still be beta quality I’m sure.

  7. If not for N95’s jet-fast battery draining, I’d save up for this instead of waiting for iPhone’s official release here.

Great phone its got this cool features. For its an ultimate gadget. Its a Phone, Camera and GPS receiver rolled into one.

    – Wifi / WLAN capable meaning you can aceess the internet from a Wireless connection
    – GPS , Global Positioning System receiver, great tool when travelling around or going outdoors. Recently i downlnoaded Google Maps for mobile and Location Tagger (program that embeds GPS info on your pictures). If you have a flicker account you can use it to Geotag your photos.
    – 5MP camera better than the N95. Equipped with Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon Flash, superior to N95’s camera and cost less also.
    – Bar-Code Reader i dont understand this feature but its got it, bar codes contain info about the product and other hidden info.
    – Headphone Jack is very conveniently located just like the express music model and sounds great too.
