Summary of improvements for Nord CE2 5G:
- Corning Gorilla Glass 5
- MicroSD slot
- Supports Wi-Fi 6
- Mediatek Dimensity 900 released later, has smaller transistor size (6nm vs 8nm)
- Supports Bluetooth 5.2
- 65W SuperVOOC charging
The OnePlus Nord CE2 5G introduced a number of significant differences compared to its predecessor. Most of them, however, appear to be internal changes, including the introduction of a microSD function which was not available with Nord CE 5G, and faster charging function (65W vs 30W).
With both Snapdragon 750G and Dimensity 900 capable of supporting 5G connectivity, the difference lies more in their performance. In this regard, the SoC inside OnePlus Nord CE2 5G provides slightly better performance, supporting faster CPU speed, higher RAM capacity, and higher version of DDR memory.
In terms of connectivity, OnePlus Nord CE2 5G supports both Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6. A difference in GPS functions can be noted with the addition of Japan’s Quasi-Zenith Satellite System (QZSS) in lieu of India’s Navigation Indian Constellation (NaVIC), which is found in the older Nord CE 5G. Should you upgrade?
If you think you will need the capacity for expanded memory and the difference in internals, a shift to OnePlus Nord CE2 5G could be considered. Otherwise, it might be prudent to wait for the next release from OnePlus.
