OPPO Reno 2F Hands-on

OPPO will soon launch two new Reno smartphones in the Philippines, one of them is the Reno 2F. It may seem like a toned-down variant of the Reno 2, but it has some tricks under its sleeves. Check out our initial thoughts below.

The Reno 2F looks identical to the Reno 2 as it also has a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED Full-Screen display with thin bezels. It is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 with a screen protector pre-installed. Placed above it by the bezel is the earpiece.

On the left is the volume rocker, while on the right is the power/lock button and triple slots for the dual-nano SIM cards and microSD card.

The buttons are firm, tactile, yet quiet. They’re also easy to reach as they are placed in the middle of the frame.

Up top is the secondary microphone, and the pop-up front camera with a typical design and the not the shark fin found on the Reno 2. It reminds us of the Mi 9T Pro as it also illuminates when it pops out.

Down below is the 3.5mm audio port, primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker.

Turn it on its back, and you will see the quad-rear cameras consisting of the 48MP F1.79 main, 8MP F2.2 ultrawide, 2MP F2.4 mono, and 2MP F2.4. Weirdly, the O-dot was placed at the top of the cameras and not below it like in the Reno 2.

Like the Reno 2, the Reno 2F feels premium thanks to the metal frame and glass front and back. It also has curved sides but is thinner than the Reno 2.

The Reno 2F packs a MediaTek Helio P70 octa-core CPU, Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. For the battery, it has a 4,000mAh capacity with support for VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge. In AnTuTu benchmarks, it got a score of 148,130. We’ll know more about its performance in our full review.

The OPPO Reno 2F, along with the Reno 2, will launch in the Philippines on October 17. Stay tuned for the price and availability.

  1. Does this new Oppo have the 5x optical and 60x digital zoom of the original Reno?
