OPPO Reno7 Z 5G Hands-on

Earlier, we brought you our initial thoughts on the Reno7 5G. Now, we’re taking a look at its sibling powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset, the Reno7 Z 5G. Read our hands-on below.

The Reno7 Z 5G sports a different look compared to the Reno7 5G. It also has a metallic frame but with a boxier look and flat sides. It comes in two colors — Cosmic Black and Rainbow Spectrum. What we have is the former.

The front houses the 6.43-inch AMOLED screen like the Reno7 5G, but no high refresh rate. There’s the hole punch on the upper left for the 16MP selfie camera, and up in the bezel is the earpiece.

On the left is the card tray for two nano-sized SIM cards and a microSD card in a hybrid setup, and the volume buttons.

On the right is the power/lock button that also doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

Up top is the secondary microphone, while down at the bottom is the 3.5mm audio jack, main microphone, USB-C port, and loudspeaker.

At the back, we can see the camera module with protruding lenses, consisting of the 64MP main, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth.

There’s no ultra-wide camera, but it has something unique about these large lenses and that is the RGB ring lights, which glows when charging or getting notifications. It’s a simple feature but still cool.

The Reno7 Z 5G is also tall like its Reno7 5G sibling and also narrow, which makes it easy to grip. Since it has flat sides, the edges feel sharper in the hands. The back panel feels great, though, and has a nice texture that repels smudges and fingerprints. It also has IPX4 water resistance so you don’t have to worry about accidental splashes.

Powering the Reno7 Z 5G is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset with an octa-core CPU, Adreno 619 GPU, 8GB of RAM with +5GB Extended RAM feature, 128GB of storage, 4,500mAh with 33W SuperVOOC fast charging, and ColorOS 12 based on Android 11.

The OPPO Reno7 Z 5G will launch in the Philippines on March 18 alongside the Reno7 5G. We’ll post about its price, availability, as well our full review at that time so stay tuned.
