Summary of advantages

Realme 3 Pro:
• Corning Gorilla Glass 5
• Better performing chipset
• Slightly larger battery capacity with faster charging
• Lower expected price

Samsung Galaxy A50:
• Slightly larger screen size
• Higher main rear camera resolution
• Ultra wide angle camera
• Under display fingerprint scanner
• USB Type-C

Looking at their displays, the Galaxy A50 has a slightly larger screen with Super AMOLED panel so you can expect punchier colors and deeper blacks. However, the Realme 3 Pro has an IPS panel for more natural colors and a newer Gorilla Glass version. Either way, both phones can provide good viewing experiences.

When it comes to imaging, the Galaxy A50 looks better on paper by sporting triple rear cameras. It has a 25MP main sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide which is handy in various shooting scenarios. However, the Realme 3 Pro’s 16MP Sony IMX519 shouldn’t be underestimated. We’ll know which phone can produce better images once we have the units for a camera comparison review.

Looking at biometrics, the two has face unlock and fingerprint scanners, although the Galaxy A50 has an under-display type which is an advantage for the device’s overall design. As for connectivity, the Galaxy A50 wins a point for having the more convenient USB Type-C.

Performance-wise, both phones have the same RAM and storage configurations, although the one available in the Philippines for the Galaxy A50 is the 6GB + 128GB model. They also have dedicated microSD card slots which is good. However, they use different chipsets so they might vary in performance. They are also running on Android 9 Pie but with different skins.

The Realme 3 Pro has a Snapdragon 710 which is the same chipset that runs the OPPO R17 Pro. Our AnTuTu test on the device got us 167,110. On the other hand, the Galaxy A50 has an Exynos 9610 which got a score of 136,262. In terms of gaming and overall performance, the Realme 3 Pro has the upper hand.

For the battery, the two are close in capacity although the Realme 3 Pro is larger by only 45mAh. It’s 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging tech is what gives it an advantage though.

As for the price, the Galaxy A50 is at PHP17,990. The Realme 3 Pro, is yet to be priced in the Philippines but based on the Indian pricing, it could start at around PHP 10K, which is an attractive price point.

So, if you were to pick, is it the Realme 3 Pro or the Samsung Galaxy A50? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. Lumalaban talaga yung realme kay xiaomi. Between the 2 devices above, i’d pick the realme 3 pro all the way.

    • True, Realme was created to compete with Redmi from Xiaomi, it should offer better specs, since that is their purpose. I’ve been a xiaomi user for quite some time, it’s the first time i bought 2 phones that are the same model (realme 3). Which I’ve never done before not even with xiaomi.
