Realme 5 Hands-on

Realme launched last month their new smartphones consisting of the Realme 5 and Realme 5 Pro. We already gave you our hands-on of the latter, so it’s time to take a look at the former.

What we have here is the Crystal Purple model, but it’s also available in Crystal Blue with the same stylish design.

At the back, we have a quad-camera camera set-up consisting of a 12MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. You’ll also find some Realme branding here as well as the fingerprint scanner.

At the bottom, we have the micro USB port, a headphone jack (at least we still have that) a microphone for regular calls, and loudspeaker.

Meanwhile, on the right side, we have the power button. On the left side, we have the volume rocker and above it is a Dual-Nano SIM card tray with a dedicated microSD card slot that can support up to 256GB.

Checking out the screen, the Realme 5 has a 6.5 inch IPS LCD with a resolution of 720 x 1600 with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection.

On its notch area are the 13MP front-facing camera and call speaker.

Powering the device is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 coupled with an Adreno 610 GPU. The Realme 5 is available in three configurations: 3GB of RAM + 32GB of storage and 4GB of RAM+ 64GB or 128GB of storage.

For software, it runs on the Android 9 Pie skinned with ColorOS 6. Keeping this device running is a 5,000mAh battery that, unfortunately, doesn’t have support for any fast charging.

We don’t have the local pricing and availability as of the moment, but in India, it’s INR 9,999 for the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage variant, INR 10,999 for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage, and INR 11,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage.

Stay tuned for our full review. In the meantime, you can watch our hands-on here.
