Realme 6 Pro Hands-on, First Impressions

Today we’re checking out another member of the Realme 6 series, the Realme 6 Pro. It’s being touted as the model to get for users who are more inclined to creative and multimedia uses. This is because it has features such as a 6-camera system, as well as a great display with a 90Hz refresh rate.

First, checking out the back, we get this really cool lightning-inspired design that shows red, purple, and pink hues against a field of black. However, you might want to take advantage of the case included in the box to protect the finish, which easily attracts dust and fingerprints.

The Realme 6 Pro is a pretty sizable phone coming in at 6.6-inches. The panel is interesting because for one, it’s a nice IPS panel with a 2400 x 1080 resolution and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, but also because it uses a dual camera punch hole that I haven’t personally seen since the Samsung Galaxy S10+. The front panel is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which is nice.

On the left side, we have the volume buttons and card tray with dedicated slots for two nano SIM cards and a microSD card.

On the right, we have the power button that also serves as the fingerprint scanner. The buttons on either side are in a nice spot towards the center of the frame, making them easy to reach — an important aspect especially for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

At the bottom, we have the 3.5mm audio port, main microphone, USB Type-C port, and loudspeaker. Up top, we have the secondary microphone.

Returning to the back, it houses the quad-camera setup consisting of a 64MP main sensor, 12MP telephoto, 8MP ultrawide, and a 2MP macro, along with the LED flash. The other two cameras are in front — a 16MP main front camera and an 8MP ultrawide front camera.

Our full evaluation of the Realme 6 Pro’s camera system will be available to read in our full review. For this article, you may check out a few sample photos below.

Finally, running the software show is Realme UI on top of Android 10, as expected.

The price for the Realme 6 Pro is expected to be announced on May 27, so stay tuned for updates.
