Sharp Aquos R sports a Snapdragon 835, AI-driven charging dock

Sharp has unveiled a new Android smartphone and, as expected, it’s got some unique features to it.

The Sharp Aquos R sports flagship-grade specs including a 5.3-inch WQHD IGZO display with HDR 10 support and 120Hz refresh rate. It’s powered by a Snapdragon 835 with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. Then it has a 22.6MP f/1.9 wide-angle rear camera with optical image stabilization and a wide-angle 16MP front-facing camera.

The phone is water and dust-resistant (IPX8), has a USB Type-C port, a 3160mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0, and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. But, what sets the phone apart from its competitor is its built-in AI called EMOP. Also, it’s got a charging dock called ‘ROBOKOKU’ that faces the user whenever the phone is docked.

Sharp Aquos R specs:
5.3-inch WQHD IZGO display @ 2560 x 1440 pixels
Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor
Adreno 540 GPU
64GB UFS internal storage
22.6MP f/1.9 autofocus rear camera w/ LED flash, OIS
16MP wide-angle front camera
4G LTE Cat.16
Wi-Fi 802.11ac
Bluetooth 5.0
GPS w/ a-GPS
USB Type-C
Fingerprint scanner
Water and dust-resistant
3160mAh battery w/ Quick Charge 3.0
153 x 74 x 8.7mm

No pricing and availability yet but we don’t expect the phone to be cheap. What for sure is that Japan will get to enjoy the phone before anyone else.
