Spotted: HTC One (M7) at the Unpack

Listen to article

While we were lining up to enter the Radio City Hall for the Samsung Unpack event here in New York, a number of folks were walking around and asking people in the line if they’ve seen the HTC One.

It’s a sneaky attempt for HTC to get some share of the buzz but it seemed to be effective.

A group of folks, clad in HTC shirts roving around handing out hot coco, pringles, and chips to media attending the Samsung Unpack event.

They had several units of the HTC One to show to people. And they seem to be getting a lot of attention too.

The unit looks really cool with all that metallic body and has semblance of the HTC Butterfly.

I am told that the HTC One will be released in the Philippines sometime in May.

Why do people always say that HTC one got the unibody with aluminum back cover from iPhone 5. Do they know HTC have been producing phones with aluminum body several years back? They do phone reviews without really “reviewing”. too bad!

HTC One seems to have a pretty decent design for me but S4 is quite good also. It will always depend on the user’s preference. I only saw 3 very close differences among the 2 phones.

1. HTC One 1.7 Ghz processor compared with S4’s 1.9 Ghz. – not much of an issue for me.
2. HTC One’s camera reso of 4 MP ultra pixel and S4’s 13MP. – if you know things about photography, good quality pictures don’t depend on higher MP’s. :)unless you’ll have the 13 MP picture posted as a billboard since ang equivalent picture size. :)
3. HTC’s non removable battery same as iPhones and S4’s removable battery. > you can always buy a battery pack which can charge other devices like you HTC, Samsung or Apple devices which is very convenient. :)

@aze

Good technology used in the wrong way. I really don’t know why most people use such tech for such purposes. Grabe ang innovation ng mga mobile companies but actually only a few of their new features have been fully used e.g. Note’s S-pen apps, full HD display pero 5″ ang screen (HD porn? lol), quad core pero ginagawang PSP, and yung camera as stated above. I hope one day people would actually use these features to their full extent, not just brag about having these high-end phones for social status.

I remember them last year flaunting the ONE X having a special core daw for battery…pfft Wala naman pala.

Bilib ako sa design, i like it but sana natuto HTC na functionality din important.

I heard that you cannot disable that Blink View, and by the looks of it battery hog yan. Design wise its really good looking. I wish they introduced the ultrapixels first sa mid ranger nila tapos lumaban sila ng 13mp battle like the rest.

design, fast processor, 2gb ram…okay good

e battery kaya at ano pa ba meron na features? at yung 4mp ultrapixels baka maging hesistant pa tao unless maglabas sila ng sobrang daming sample pics at comparisons to entice people to choose that 4mp UP snapper against the 13mp BSI ones nung iba.

yet madanda siya tignan

“Now for the moment of truth: in our rundown endurance test, in which we play an HD video on endless loop, the One made it through six and a half hours before all of its juice was sucked dry”

“..in our initial real-world usage tests were conducted on AT&T’s 1900MHz network, which admittedly doesn’t offer consistent HSPA+ speeds in our area; with this in mind,we got almost nine hours of constant use, which consisted of emailing, social media, taking pictures, making a few calls and an assortment of other random activities.”

Desperado na ang HTC. It worked (base sa report) pero napaka bad taste naman (reminds me of BB’s rally).

So? Waleeey!! Let’s wait until ma-release ang S4. Laos na ang pinagyayabang niyong HTC One. Booom!!! Laos na kaagad. Bagsak nanaman… Anyaree ang design?? Hahaha.

Isn’t it the same as with S3? I’ve seen a lot of people with S3 or galaxy note na may protective cover/case. So kung ganun din lang naman, eh why not go for something worthy of spending money for such accessories. For some people like me, I prefer the premium look. Samsung phones are so expensive but the look and feel is more like those china phones.

panoorin niyo nalang yung Big little video saa youtube about 8 cores. Pag small task, activated yung weaker four cores (A7), pag heavy tasks doon magtratrabaho stronger four cores (A15)

minimal tasks yung weaker cores pero pag heavy na kick na yung stronger quad cores. so they are not all running at the same time

unlike sa say…quad core ng htc (sample lang) or sabihin mo s3…kahit anong task same 4 cores are working

pag beauty hands down HTC ONE

Hahaha! Sabotage marketing! :P

Design-wise and materials-wise, I agree, the HTC One is a beauty. But as for what’s under the hood, numero uno pa rin ang Exynos 5 Octa!

Hopefully some company will combine the idea of the design of HTC One and the specs of Samsung Galaxy S4. Hopefully that phone will be LG Nexus 5.

Wow. Ganda talaga ng design ng HTC One. Unlike the same design ng S4, mahirap i-distinguish sa S3. And about sa pag-init ng quad-cores – yes, umiinit talaga pag naglalaro ka ng 3D games and such, lalo na siguro yang 8-cored. Wala pa namang effective heat sink ang cellphones diba?

Hi Sir Abe, do quad core cell phones heat up if all four cores are being used at d same time? Id like to get a flagship phone of any brand, but worried if the cores react that way (esp wd hd gaming and movie watching on the device.) would i be better off wd a dual core phone?

Kung pareho ang feel ng One at Butterfly, then the One isnt good at all. I really have to see and touch S4 first before i decide which phone ill get for myself. Im still torn when it comes to hardware..pero S4 is a monster inside!

HTC One seems like a solid smartphone package. I could even imagine myself liking the BlinkFeed thing they’re trying to force in with it. What I can’t take is the 2-button approach. It does not make sense. The menu button is much too useful to just drop like that.

Oh well.

starting with ICS android 4.0, the menu key has disappeared from the capacitive and onscreen buttons leaving only the HOME, BACK, and MULTITASKING KEY. the options/menu key has been integrated into the apps’ screen/layout. I really won’t miss it. Only Samsung employs the Options/Menu key these days.
