We’ve started the talks since early last year and have recently founded a new group or association of digital commerce players in the Philippines. This new non-profit, non-stock organization is formally called the DCOM (or Digital Commerce Association of the Philippines).
The organizaton is composed of key players in the Philippines, both companies and individuals, who are involved in eCommerce in the country.
As a matter of disclosure, YugaTech & YugaDeals are founding members of the association.
The goal of the association is simple — promote and advocate e-commerce in the Philippines.
• Establishing standards and best practices for a friendly and secure digital commerce industry
• Teaching Filipino Merchants how to properly everage on digital commerce
• Making the Philippine digital commerce industry attractive for trade and investment
• Partnering with government in shaping sound policies on digital commerce
In line with this, I’d like to put out an open invite to everyone to join the association. If you are in some way involved in ecommerce, this would be a good starting place for you to know and interact with other key players in the industry.
We’ve got the folks from Sulit, Multiply, Ensogo, CashCashPinoy, Shopinas, Mozcom, etc as part of the founding members of the association.
I’ve personally volunteered to help craft some key projects to help make online selling and buying a more secure and trusted enviroment in the country.
Check out the DCOM website here (the application form is there if you are interested to apply) or add it up on Facebook.
YugaTech.com is the largest and longest-running technology site in the Philippines. Originally established in October 2002, the site was transformed into a full-fledged technology platform in 2005.
