Alibaba Cloud now powers Kumu live streaming app

Alibaba Cloud is now powering the live streaming entertainment platform Kumu to deliver a better live streaming experience to its users.

Under the Alibaba Group, Alibaba Cloud is a Chinese cloud computing company that provides cloud computing services to online businesses and Alibaba’s own e-commerce ecosystem. It has recently announced to power Kumu to build a strong infrastructure to support its growth and provide curators and viewers with rich and smooth experiences on the platform.

Kumu recognizes the need to provide its users with short video services to meet their demands to socialize, interact, and create business opportunities. With the help of Alibaba Cloud’s Live Streaming Solutions, including a software development kit (SDK), Kumu has rolled out the video service in a month with minimal infrastructure investment.

“Kumu values our user experience, and therefore, we want to work with a trusted cloud service provider to enhance our digital offering,” Chief Architect of Kumu, Andrew Pineda, stated.

Alibaba Cloud’s SDK gives an easy-to-use, stable, and centralized interface for recording, importing, cropping, and editing short videos to facilitate customized secondary development for Kumu users. It also supports features, such as resumable recording, real-time filters, animated stickers, subtitles, music, and beautification effects, which are the app’s added functions. SDK has been deployed in more than 1000 applications worldwide.

Launched in 2018, Kumu connects Filipinos worldwide by providing a platform where users may share updates about their lives and activities via live streaming. The local app has over 5 million users globally and recognized as the top free app on the App Store last October 2020.
