Amazon’s hands-free, voice-controlled device that uses the Alexa Voice Service, is now available for purchase in the Philippines.

The Amazon Echo Dot is a small device with a built-in speaker and seven microphones. It uses the Alexa Voice Service to receive voice commands and respond to your requests. It can also connect to your speakers via Bluetooth or audio cable.

The Echo Dot uses the same far-field voice recognition as Amazon Echo, which allows it to here you ask a question from any direction – even while playing music. With the help of Alexa App on Fire OS, Android, iOS, and desktop browsers, it can connect to services like Spotify, Pandora, and Google Calendar, as well as set up your smart home devices.

Can we download the Alexa app already here in the Philippines or do we need to download from 3rd party sites to control the device?

Alexa app is still not available in the Philippines, but you can set it up using a wireless computer or a laptop. If you really want to download the Alexa App in your mobile phone (iOS or Android), you need to change your Appstore/Playstore marketplace to US like what I did. It won’t affect the other apps that was installed in your phone though.
