Apple is partnering with Google to power their next AI features.

Apple has announced a multiyear partnership with Google to power upcoming AI features. This also includes a major Siri upgrade expected later this year.

The deal will use Google’s Gemini models as the foundation for Apple’s future AI capabilities.

“After careful evaluation, Apple determined that Google’s Al technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models and is excited about the innovative new experiences it will unlock for Apple users,” Google has announced in their blog post.

Apple stressed that AI processing will still run on Apple devices and through its private cloud infrastructure. This means that privacy continues to be the main focus.

The partnership comes as Apple faces increasing pressure to catch up in the AI race after delaying its Siri AI.

Apple also confirmed that its existing integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT remains unchanged for now.
