This week, some users reported their M4 iPad Pro stopped working after updating to iPadOS 18. In response, Apple pulled the update from affected iPad models and is now working on a bug fix.
According to an internal memo (via MacRumors), Apple acknowledged the bug, which a “small number” of users encountered. The root cause is uncertain, but the bug apparently bricked their iPads after installing the new update.
Furthermore, the company instructed technicians to perform a force restart on a user’s M4 iPad Pro that experienced the issue.
For now, Apple hasn’t mentioned any turnaround time, so it’s best to leave your iPad Pro on iPadOS 17 until the company pushes a bug fix.
