Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAx) first phase to be open for motorists by December 2018

Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAx) first phase is set to open for motorists by December 2018. Its first phase runs from the Mamplasan Interchange in Biñan, Laguna to Laguna Boulevard.

CALAx is a 44.6-kilometer, 4-lane toll road between the Cavite Expressway in Kawit, Cavite and the South Luzon Expressway – Mamplasan Interchange.

MPCALA Holdings Incorporated, a unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), is the owner the CalaX project. The company also signed a Php7.2 billion agreement with DM Consunji Incorporated (DMCI) for the the construction of the 18-km Laguna side of CALAx. They are also hiring Australia’s Leighton Holding in a deal worth Php7.3 billion for Cavite side.

MPCALA has paid the government a bid of Php27.3 billion to win the CALAx contract. The company will operate and maintain CALAx for 35 years. The CALAx’s total construction cost is worth Php35.42 billion. Operations and maintenance will be taken care of the government after 35 years.

The CALAx is targeted to be completed by December 2020.
