Converge further expands fiber connections nationwide to nearly 600,000km at the end of September

Converge has further strengthened itself to be one of the country’s leading fiber network providers by expanding its fiber footprint to roughly 600,000 kilometers based on its end-September report to the national Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

Its fiber network consists of subsea, aerial, and terrestrial fiber optic cables that cover the northernmost tip of Luzon all the way across to Visayas and Mindanao.

Converge also reports that it had installed over 1.7 million fiber ports nationwide during the same period including augmenting existing coverage and expanding to new cities and municipalities.

Last July, Converge was also awarded the Top-rated Fixed Network in Ookla’s Speedtest Awards for the first half of 2022.

The award is said to be based on user ratings and thus reflects the majority of Filipino customers’ sentiment.

“Fulfilling our commitment to reach the unserved and underserved, we are continuously expanding and strengthening our fiber network to serve the strong demand for reliable and accessible internet,” — Dennis Anthony Uy, Converge CEO and Co-Founder

Previously, it had laid out 300,000 ports in both Visayas and Mindanao in 2021, but has now since doubled that to over 600,000 fiber ports by the end of July 2022.

Furthermore, Converge has become one of the most extensive cable systems despite its young age with coverage to over 13.5 million homes as of June 2022.

Converge has its twin strategy of ‘Go Deep’ and ‘Go National’ which hence means to strengthen network in different regions to reach underserved areas and build fiber links across the country.
