Crunchyroll subscription to be implemented on simulcast titles according to a blog post from Crunchyroll. The anime streaming platform will end halt free ad-supported streaming for their newly released episodes.
Viewers who would like to watch any of the uploaded new or continuing series will be required to upgrade to a Crunchyroll premium plan that starts at USD 7.99 per month.
Users were allowed to watch simulcast titles prior to this update but there would be a one-week delay for free users as compared to subscribers who can watch after an hour of the premiere in Japan.
Crunchyroll will be introducing a new seasonal simulcast that will offer initial episodes of select titles as part of a “seasonal sampler” for free viewing for a limited period. Users are able to watch the first three episodes of the following titles:
- Spy x Family
- A Couple of Cuckoos
- Dawn of the Witch
- Tomodachi Game
- Skeleton Knight in Another World
- Shikimori’s Not Just a Cutie
- The Greatest Demon Lord is Reborn as a Typical Nobody
- Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs
